its not the same thing, i mean its an achievement obviously but the way the charts go now, singles arent really singles, airplay is heavy in the counting, all your songs are available seperately etc..so this is kind of like Barry Bonds homerun record, jacked up, and forgotten

She does have an impressive amount of hits in such a short amount of time. But it's all singles sales, her albums don't sell over 1 million if that.
It's a shame the girl has not written any of these song's either.....
Not all artists are 'writers' though. And that's not a new phenomenon. Plenty of artists from the past made whole careers out of singing things they didn't write.
I guess I'm just not that picky about it. I'd rather hear someone sing something someone else wrote, than hear them sing something they wrote if it isn't very good. Not saying Rhianna wouldn't write well; I don't know, I haven't heard to be able to say one way or the other. I'm just saying that I don't feel not being a singer-songwriter is necessarily a deal-breaker.
"I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

I wouldnt care so much either if she exactly was a GREAT singer but she cant sing for shit. And her music is just horrible. Also, like you said their have been great singers who didnt write their songs in the past. The ONLY issue I have with this is when the singer tries to pass on like they wrote their own music when they DIDNT... like seriously... why lie about it? Alot of singers do that now for some reason... I guess to come off as more talented? LOL

I probably should have mentioned that to lol, my main gripe is she doesn't write her material and she's a so-so singer. I don't think she is AWFUL like some on the org lol. I like her contribution to All Of The Lights but her voice is average and live it's very hit and miss.
Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

i think rihanna has some nice songs that i like, but the fact she isn't a vocalist, or even an entertainer/dancer i can't be a fan. It has to be one or the other. I don't care if you don't write your songs if you can sing or perform them.
there is NOTHING talented about this girl. her performances always looks like they dressed someone up from highschool and put them in a talent show

Co-sign this chick bring nothing to the table. She is a horrible singer, she cannot dance and she appears to have the personality of a fish. The fact that she was allowed to record 25 songs is disturbing and makes me question the taste of the under 25 set.
