In his early years I never gave Lenny Kravitz any chance. But when I heard "Tell Me Momma" it nearly had me in tears. After that he can do no wrong.
I LOVE that song - 'Thinking of You'

Not one singular artist, but ALL JAZZ. I so hated jazz when I was younger. It was mind-numbingly boring, unadventurous background noise for old folks… I thought.

Now I swear by the artistry and depth of this music.

I'll second that. I was a little pissed off when I found out that Herbie Hancock wouldn't be making any more songs like "Rockit" but I've since heard some really good Jazz-like sounds & now am a changed man. Thanx Herbie. lol

I used to hate the sound of Erykah Badu's voice. It sounded so nasal too me. I don't know if I was just rebelling cuz everyone else was on her bandwagon and I just have to be difficult, but I eventually came to love her music.

Roxie Roker? I thought she was from the Caribbean? Maybe West Indian roots? (btw, has anyone ever met a black person who didn't claim to have Native American roots? smile I know someone who claims that she grew up on a reservation. I guess that sounds a lot more rooted and exotic than, say, Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.)

True dat, she had west indian in her too, I 4got 2 mention that. She was an actress in a family show called "The Jeffirson" I think,,

But she's a beautfiul lady,,have you seen her pix from the video?? Looks alot like "Sistah Girl" from Eddie Griffin's movie "Undercover Brother".

Candy Dulfer

Maybe I was in Eric withdrawl, but I'm listening to Copenhagen 2002 right now...and she absolutely shines on this one

...as brightly as she did at the World aftershow on 'Extraordinary'.

Maxwell - The video for the first single, 'Til the Cops Come Knockin made me despise him. My first thought was who is this mofo rolling around on the floor thinking he's Prince. But then he released Ascension and I was hooked.

It was the same for me when I heard his 1st 7""I'f You Let Me Stay" and all the mediapeople were calling him the new Prince. I thought "No way" whofarted, but when I heard the 2nd single "Wishing Well" I started to realize his real talent nod
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Nick Cave,
Tori Amos
Radiohead
Smashing Pumpkins
Sinead O'Connor
U2
Beck
PJ Harvey

I used to like bubblegum pop music up until I was about 16.
Most of these people had just started out at that time, or
released a few albums, except for U2.

Then when I started to listen more closely to what they
were singing about, I came to love some of the songs and
artists I initially resented.

I used to hate Nick Cave so bad and then when I finally had
one of his songs playing and for the first time really
listened to what he sang, I fell in love with his music.

Same with a lot of the other people. When Tori first came
onto the scene, "Crucify" and "Winter" etc were played a
lot on the radio and I hated the songs. Now I consider them
to be some of the most beautiful songs I know, and Tori
being an incredibly gifted artist who writes amazing lyrics
-be it a bit cooky at times.

I think out of everyone I hated RADIOHEAD most. Whenever
a song by them was played at the club I used to go to the
toilet or outside. I even hated the people who liked them
and danced to their songs. That was round about when ok
computer was released.

It's incomprehensible, looking back now, with Radiohead
being only second to Prince in my musicbook, that I ever
resented their music so much since I've listened to their
cds about a 1000 times now and think they're incredible.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
