So, how about that New Wave/New Romantic?

I'm just getting into the pure '80s-ness that are the new wave and new romantic genres. What are your favorite bands/songs from the movement?

They put out way to much work to be stuck in only one category, there was plenty of new wave in their sound.

To me, just hearing their early material, they were one of the most punkiest of the post-punk/new wave bands. Plus Siouxsie was already a legend in punk rock culture prior to the Banshees' debut.

Duran Duran, Devo....

Actually, I like all those dudes with the make-up, triangle haircuts and the futuristic synth sounds. It was like music from another planet when I was growing up.

Visage are hands down my fave new wave/synth pop act. Nice to see themget a mention. I also love Human League, ABC and i'm currently listening to White Feathers by Kajagoogoo, Kissing to be clever by Culture Club and Final! by Wham. Yes, i know they are mostly pop but they have new wave moments in their music too. I'll have to think of more bands. Great thread! cool
