After a few false starts, Kelly Rowland is finally ready to release her album. The singer’s oft-delayed project is coming sooner than you think.
The Destiny’s Child diva has settled on a July 26 release date for her third solo album, Here I Am, Universal Motown confirms. The new date comes as her Lil Wayne-assisted single “Motivation” continues to soar, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
The album features contributions from Rico Love, Tricky Stewart, Dr. Luke, Stargate, Salaam Remi, Jim Jonsin, RedOne, Ester Dean, and more.
Kelly was recently announced as a judge for Britain’s “X Factor,” which is currently taping in London.

That cover is hot. Simple and understated yet artsy. "Get up off that grey line"

I like the cover as well. Ive always thought she was pretty

yep, she's very pretty...and i gotte say, although she doesn't have massive succes, she stays in the picture for a long time now. It's not easy to go solo after you've been in a group....usually there's maybe just one member that makes it.

They should've airbrushed the zits off Kelly's face. Or are those water droplets? "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

Those appear to be droplets, not pimples.

Or this one
Anyway, I love "Motivation" so i'm excited for the new album, but why does Kelly have so many features on the album? She doesn't need that. I want to hear Kelly alone and want her to showcase her vocal talent. Not interested in hearing bunch of featured guests. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

Looks like they're trying to break her big in the States. Typical American martketing scheme. I hope they don't alienate her newly found European audience in the process. A lot of people are rooting for Kelly. I was one of the few people who actually liked a few cuts from her debut record, "Simply Deep."
Believe it or not, Solange Knowles wrote or co-wrote some decent songs for her on that debut.

Really? But I can't say i'm too suprised. I know Solange co-wrote a few songs for Destiny's Child as well. She's talented. I hope they don't alienate her European audience either. Before "Motivation", Kelly couldn't get a hit over here for some time. Not any major hits anyway since "Dilemma" with Nelly. The European audience on the other hand seemed to be much more accepting of Kelly and her music, so hopefully the album isn't a generic r&b record. Hopefully that isnt the case though 3 of the tracks that I have heard so far are more rb for america pretty standard stuff. And a few tacks that I heard early on that were euro sounding are dropped "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

For her standards, thats her 2nd best solo performance and it shows why she is better than most of the R&B girls that have come out since her first solo record.
Ciara can dance but she can't sing worth shit, Ashanti is a waste of money, Mya has the talent but no it factor etc. Kelly needs to continue working on her live vocal game (she was doing too much & tryin to hard to in a few places, just be sexy & give an Aaliyah vocal) and she really needs an album that showcases her versatility cuz thats her truest strength and put her in the driver's seat as an artist. Not just another Rihanna who can make cute radio jams for today yet forgotten tomorrow. Stevie Wonder = EARTH

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Jeez, she does not sound good live.

I say the same thing. I don't understand how she hasn't learned how to breathe properly while moving on stage. She always sound so out of breath. I love her but she really needs to work on that.

Different strokes. While I wouldn't purchase any of these women's music, since you brought up the comparisons, I think both Ashanti and Ciara have more entertainment value than Rowland. Ciara's dancing certainly gets a second look and the songs she put out early on (I think from Missy Elliot?) were infectious. Ashanti herself has much less entertainment presence but again, those early songs from her were very good by urban pop/rb standards. I have yet to hear anything from Rowland that I want to hear again and I think she is an awful performer. Everything looks (and sounds) so labored and unnatural. Even her photos look desparate and unnatural. I dont imagine she would have had any kind of solo career had she not been in Destinys Child. [Edited 7/30/11 19:34pm]

I already said half the stuff you said so I don't know why you reiterated it. Ashanti songs were meaningless fluff, just unfinished demos that nobody with a better voice or personality wanted. For urban pop standards, her songs were lame which is why she is no longer around Ciara is basically another Paula Abdul so thats a moot point as well. Kelly has the looks which everyone has been creaming themselves over whether you like it or not, I don't really give a f*ck. She finally has a fair chance to show people who she is outside of DC so for now I'ma watch and see how she develops. If it wasn't for Destiny's Child, would Beyonce even have a career because if she was so great then she would have come out solo like Brandy & Monica. That statement of yours is void. I didn't make my comment for discussion so why you felt the need to rebuttal is beyond me. Kelly isn't anything to be making a fuss over. Stevie Wonder = EARTH
