Pee Wee Herman? Steve Urkle? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I really like him. He seems humble and down to earth. [Edited 7/29/11 9:34am] "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Is it me or can none of the Jackson spin offs really sing? Michael and Janet are exceptions and even then Janet isn't the greatest singer.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Nah it's not just you. Least Austin's trying hard though. And Jermaine wasn't a bad singer though he wasn't like his younger brother. None of them were, really.

Jermaine says hi. PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever ----- Live Your Life How U Wanna Live It

I was originally gonna say that but I thought against it.

He's greasy, but he can sing. PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever ----- Live Your Life How U Wanna Live It

Right. Which makes me mad at him that he hasn't further used his talents.

Janet is OK as a singer but nowhere near Jermaine. Janet is a better performer than Jermaine though. When it comes to the second generation: I think Austin is a good enough singer. This performance shows he is good enough IMO. There's also Taryll who is pretty good as a singer but I think Austin has more potential overall.
12-13 year old Jermaine singing lead before his voice broke. In fact he was so good that many people listening to it now assume it is Michael singing
Show me a song where Janet displays this kind of soulful vocals
Still not convinced? Jermaine singing live when he still was doing his thing
I think this performance shows Austin is good enough as a vocalist. Listen especially from 3.06 when he puts some power to his voice.

^ Was that Nathaniel Brown near Rebbie?

Thought he was really good. See how he grows as an artist. ‘You don’t understand — if I’m not there to receive these ideas, God might give them to Prince.’

Yaay! Austin!!!
Thats one handsome young man, huh?

I figured it was. I thought so when he said "and daddy" at the end.

Can sing yeah, but so can my mum lol she isn't what I would call a 'singer' though. I think that's the difference here. They can all sing but are they 'singers'?
For me singing is a musicality (obviously) and that performance of Jermaine with Michael performing 'Tell Me I'm not Dreamin' and he playing bass etc.. he starts in the complete WRONG key! I know that the greatest of singers crack and sing out of key at times but this guy playysss bass guitar. He should know everything about key and scales.
Just shows me that he isn't a 'proper singer', just someone who can sing - like the rest of them.

This is perhaps the dumbest post I've ever seen. First of all, out of all performances clearly you'll find some where he messes up. Happens to everybody. The reason why he came in wrong is most probably because he had trouble hearing himself in the beginning. This is called stage monitoring problems. During concerts the performer can sometimes have trouble hearing himself because there's a risk you will sort of drown in the high dB. If you've performed live as a musician you'll know what I'm talking about. If he would have such a pitch problem because of lacking musicality he would not have been able to adjust himself and he'd come in wrong much more often. Jermaine's been performing live since the 60's so obviously you'll be able to find performances like this. What about all the criticizm W. Houston got on tour of recently. People leaving her shows early because she "couldn't sing"! We are talking about Whitney here. She wasn't performing well but she is still one of the greatest singers when she is on. I've heard Stevie mess up and Michael mess up. And if you want to compare Michael and Jermaine: although I agree that Michael was on another level he had nights where you could argue Jermaine was the better singer. Compare Michael and Jermaine singing I'll be there at MSG 2001. Michael sounded bad at times and Jermaine sounded as good as ever. So if I wanna use your logic (picking one performance to support a point) Jermaine must be a better singer than Michael?

Yes. It. Is. He has beautiful eyes.
And you can tell he wants to look, talk, sing, and act just like Michael. That's very cute. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

She said "that's." So I said "it." Why is that funny? "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

You said "It" rather than "he" the first time. With periods. Its the way you "said" it. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Technically he's still going by his birth name Austin Brown. Unless he decided to go mononymous (sp?) lol

Exactly, 'cause, again, she originally said "that's one handsome young man," instead of "he's one handsome young man." I knew what I typed, lol. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee
