Yes it is very good. It took me a couple of listens to start to really feel it though. Always nice to hear someone appreciates Tori heart

EXCELLENT CD!! IMHO, Tori's best since Boys For Pele (still my favorite) and also somewhat of a return to the sound of Little Earthquakes. Is there any more singles planned from this? "Sorta Fairytale" was actually getting VH1 airplay, it would be nice to see some support for this release!!

I find the album quite boring. I prefer the more interesting sounds of choirgirl.

I totally agree.. this album is more classic Tori, if there is such a thing. Under the Pink is still my fave, but this may become my second..

I always love whatever Tori does, I like how all her albums don't sound the same.

Lucky you...I'm in Rochester, NY and the closest she's coming is Buffalo (Shea's Performing Arts Theatre small venue, same place I saw Prince on One Nite Alone tour) and those tickets are long gone..What's the set list like? Lotsa the new album? Is she playing anything from Pele or Venus And Back??? I WILL hear the song "Lust" live dammit!!!

I've really come to like Scarlet's Walk. At first listen it easy to let the mind wander about half way through: many songs in the same temopo/instrumentation. But repeated listens really give this album depth. The 'story'behind all the tracks is cool too and there's some amazingly beautiful tracks on it.

I saw Tori live a few weeks ago and she played many songs from the new album and they also sounded great live. Combined with older tracks (including a rapturous Cornflake Girl) the songas were more 'individuals' and they held up great without the context of the album.

When I saw her she did Spring Haze and Concertina from Venus.. and Bliss, I think.. and Putting the Damage On and Hey Jupiter from Pele. I know she's doing Lust with the band on this tour, but she didn't play it at the 2 shows I saw on this tour.

I love this disc! I had given up the idea of tori topping Boys for Pele, but she surprised me with this one. The politics of the work is what gets me. It's nice to see tori deal with politics of the world as well as of the mind.

Yes! She is great! This album is more back to a Pele style, kind of all in the same texture all the way through. Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Piano. Choirgirl is my favorite, but this is a close, second-place tie with Pele. The album follows a story and it's really quite amazing. A concept album. It takes you on a journey.

Taxi Ride is supposed to be the next single. Check out these great Tori websites for info:

I think Taxi Ride is a great choice... it's actually my favorite track on the album, with Carbon and Sweet Sangria close behind... I'm so glad Taxi Ride is going to get exposure as a single. I hope it does well...

At first I was really disappointed, but it did grow on me. Her current tour is definitely hot too. It's definitely a step up from that disaster known as "Strange Little Girls".

I agree 100%. "Choirgirl" can't get enough praise imo.
It's spaced out and haunting with cruel dark soundscapes
and yet a lot of beauty and redemption. It's her best
album and it's also one of my top 3 fav albums of all
time. There's just something about it that makes it very
very special.

It kinda sucks you in as soon as the first chord of "Spark"
strikes and she sings "she's convinced she could pull back
a glacier, but she couldn't keep baby alive..."

That's when you know this is serious and that she's gonna
cut right through the hurt of losing her child and see if
she can come out safe on the other side.

Only to close the album with "Pandora's Aquarium" which is
quite a twisted ending [it was the first song written for
the album]

"she's in new york somewhere,
checking her accounts
the lord of the files
was diagnoized as sooouuund".

The lyrics are so intensely personal and yet also quite
abstract yet thank god, not so silly and kookie as some
of her other stuff was.

That was the time when her B-sides used to be as good
as her album cuts [think Prince 85-88] with songs like
"Never Seen Blue" and "Merman".

It's a completely different league of songwriting and
composing than where she's at now.

If anything, her new albums sound like juvenile work,
something half-baked that she did years ago, long
before she recorded "Little Earthquakes".

"Scarlet's Walk" has some nice moments, but over all it
lacks good songwriting and melody. Too many of the songs
sound alike and meander without going anywhere.

And that "Strange Little Girls" new wave synth is tooth
achingly awful when you think of what her voice sounds
like accompanied by her bösendorfer.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
