"The best thing for an argument is not words and ideas, but to stop arguing."

some will always disagree with you, others will choose to stay nuetral, while the confident one believes in his/her own opinion and shuns verbal discourses filled with rancor. the confident one has nothing to prove.

while lady gaga has near-great notarity early on in this decade, i will agree to disagree that she is a "best" because i know who i am.

(however i do respect your opinion cool )

Age don't matter, there's a bunch of folks Tyler's age that don't like her. But it's their prerogative just like it's people's prerogative to like her. Stop worrying about who hates her or don't get her. If you like her that's all that matters. Not everybody's gonna like an artist you like, same with everybody not hating the same artist they're hating. She's talented though but yeah that's all I'm gonna say about it and I'm gonna leave this alone before it turns into some stupid ass musical snobbery bullshit like 95% of the music topics on this site always do.

[Edited 7/24/11 4:25am]

Why because people speak the truth? People kill me with this bullshit. Gaga is overrated and while she may play an instrument and write her music that doesnt mean that she isnt. I personally can not relate to her music and dont find anything original or spetacular about it. No I dont have a problem with people liking her but when people say stupid shit like she is orginal (when she swaggerjacks the entire 80's era) or what she is doing is groundbreaking (when her sound has been done countless of times before her) when all that is not true then yes people are going to be objective on a PRINCE SITE and this is kinda crazy coming from you of all people. Thats the whole point of message boards to express yourself constructively whether it is positive or negative. Not everything is going to be peaches and cremes their is nothing REAL about that. If yall want to worship the ground she walks on go right ahead but it makes you look silly when you go in other more music conscience threads talking down on legends who have exactly changed music eek watever

Lady Gaga sucks. Her music is generic and I think she's annoying and weird. In the meantime, I'm already sensing a subtle public backlash/disinterest brewing against her.

Janelle Monae is better than her and is imo the best and most talented artist of this decade.

Considering this is only 2011...isn't it a little too soon to name someone the Best Female Artist of the Decade?!! lol

This decade just began. And, if anything, I'd give that title to Janelle Monae or to Adele, NOT Lady Gaga.

If she would've played "Purple Rain" instead of Prince, you people would still hate her.

If you people down play this performance, your just a fucking hater.

Not being into someone's music as much as the next guy or gilr is not hating. It's just a matter of personal taste. However, some do hate and you can tell who those people are by their word usage. I've never really understood literally hating an artist because their music isn't liked or they disagree with how they carry themselves as an artist or human being.

Nah I'm just tired of people going back and forth shoving opinions in people's faces. Not saying you're doing it or Tyler's doing it but it's that vibe I'm getting and is why threads go as long as 100 pages just because someone disagrees with people. I'm fucking SICK of it.

And as people said, this decade has just begun so let's wait until 2020/2021 until we can make that decision about who's "the best".

Carry on. coffee

Plus if people like Gaga, cool. Let them. Whatever.

The decade has only begun.

But she's displayed far more talent than I gave her credit for (0) in recent performances.

I listened 2 this track with an open mind.

There is NOTHING there. I'll never listen 2 this again and I completely miss your point.

#1. It's 1 year into this so called decade.

#2. U have a care about an artist in order 2 "hate" them. Gagg bores me 2 tears so hate would not apply.

How many Lady Gaga threads do we need about the same topic? If you like/don't like an artist, why do you need others to agree with you?

Just believe what you believe. No need for validation.

She is good. I could have shaved off about 1 minute 30 seconds of "my hair...my hair..." personally.

But this performance is only noteworthy because of her flashy image. In 1970 she would have been one of a hundred singer/songwriters. The voice is good, the playing is adequate, the song is average to dull.

her vocals are okay. You can find people who sing just as good on American Idol. So lets not act like she has like 5 octaves and this amazing technique.

She is not even worth the Hate. But she knew what she was doing when she used all those gimmicks.

If growing up when musical artists were expected to be able to sing passably, write most if not all their songs and/or play AT LEAST one instrument makes me old and has left me biased, then so be it.

So, I don't give her bonus points for doing the basics. I subtract significant points for stealing song hooks, artistic concepts and sex-selling shock value from some very obvious sources. But, hey, this is what Prince got popular doing.

I'm just not impressed by her. But I don't have to be.

And, it's a shame that adults (of particular ages lol ) on this board and elsewhere get dismissed with a "hater" label. There's sadness on my part that she's held up as a gold standard of contemporary artistry. Back in the 1970s and 1980s, she would have been considered average at best. Maybe she could have opened for Labelle. shrug

And, seeing what she means (mostly to people TylerHippie's age) kind of shows how sharply the music industry and music instruction have declined since my childhood. But folks loving her doesn't affect me anymore than folks' love for Luther Vandross didn't affect me decades ago. She's just another artist who doesn't do it for me. And that's life. shrug

Wait a second, don't put me in this generation. I might be 19 but I'm no fool when it comes to music. Bruno Mars,Janelle Monae, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga and a few other artist is the only people I listen to from this decade. Now all those artist have something in common, talent. I said Lady Gaga is the best of this decade because she's the most talented out of the 4 I named, that's my opinion.

So? What is that supposed to even mean?

Also, there is no way to gauge talent by any means. Let's not even go there.

Gaga MORE talented than Monae????? neutral ..... I dont think so.

If you honestly think flashy clothing, playing a piano, having an average voice, creating music that was done in the 80's the BEST that is out today than you are smoking shit and need to stop.

Gaga sucks overall to me but her talent is average, Bruno Mars sucks, Alicia Keys is okay even though I find her to be a overrated vocalist, Monae is the best you mentioned out of the four

Yes, she is a bad mamajamma, and literally wipes the floor with her contemporaries. I'm STILL floored by how good the Born This Way CD is, months after it came out. Girl can write, dance, sing, has personality to burn and is intelligent. I've been a fan since day one.

Mostly all the big pop acts today do.. Gaga, Beyawnce, Rihanna etc... NONE of what they are doing screams orginality or groundbreaking. Out of the three Rihanna has no talent whatsoever BUT I dont see how since Gaga and Beyonce have a descent marginal talent that can be easily duplicated deserve all the sait glorified admiration. Especially when the music is just... bad:-? Singing and music both go hand and hand. Its almost like if someone has some talent its an excuse for their horrid music or attention whoring antics. Why just Gaga plays the piano that should excuse her over the top attention seeking antics? Why just because Beyonce is a descent singer that should excuse her horrible/boring music? I just could never understand that especially when their are plenty of singers who dont even have a record contract that can sing way better than both of them

Their is nothing genuine about any of them. It just seems they put out what the public wants and what sells. They just care about accolades foreal.

BUT I WILL SAY THIS THOUGH... while I find her to be terribly overrated I do appreciate that she does at least write her own music and is musically inclined unlike her peers.
