Have you guys ever heard the acoustic demo of Wake Up Alone? Different melody, different chords, different vocals. Definitely worth tracking down! "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

That's the demo version right? The one on the deluxe edition of BTB?

Nope, you're thinking of the alternate version of Some Holy War. The acoustic Wake Up Alone has never appeared on anything official. If you search online you should find it. If not, let me know... "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

Amy Winehouse's goddaughter performs at UK festPublished: Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 - 7:17 am

EASTNOR CASTLE DEER PARK, England -- Amy Winehouse's 15-year-old goddaughter performed an outstanding set at the Big Chill music festival, mirroring her late mentor by closing her show with a cover of Winehouse's "Love Is a Losing Game." Dionne Bromfield got teary-eyed when she performed the song, barely able to sing its last few words, though the crowd cheered her on. "She was an amazing singer," Bromfield said. "She was not only my godmother, but she was my mentor and my boss as well." The big-voiced singer sang with ease during her 30-minute performance on Saturday, the second day of the U.K. music festival. Bromfield was a reminder of Winehouse: She stood close to the mic while belting lyrics, with her big hair and tiny build. She was backed by a 5-piece band and dancers, performing songs from her two albums and singing mainly about boys and relationship troubles. Her scratchy voice was top-notch as she sang soul songs with pop flavors, especially on the old-school sounding "Remember Our Love" and the up-tempo "Yeah Right." She also performed covers of Cee Lo Green's smash "Forget You" "and the Shirelles' "Mama Said," Bromfield's first single. Winehouse, who had struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, was found dead of unknown causes at her London home on July 23. Bromfield is signed to Winehouse's label, Lioness Records.

Watched her perform last year and the kid was more comfortable on stage than a lot of adults, including Amy. She is something special, hope all goes well for her!

Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry Collection Will Still Be Releasedhttp://movies.yahoo.com/n...37530.html Us Magazine - 3 hrs agao 08082011
seems to me so many people at the top are cutting Amy Winehouse's memory up like a thanksgiving turkey. this collection is going to be a boon to the record, clothing, entertainment industry. the addulation seems plastic to me. (here i go getting all cynical, but it all seems so transparent to me) i so wish everyone would boycott buying any post Amy's death product for at least one year. this would stop the greedy money making insults upon her life-imo. i do realize where the proceeds are "suppose" to be going. however i ask myself what percentage will be skimmed from the top? color me cynical, or color me remembering the old adage as in : Some Celebrities Are Worth Much More Dead Than Alive. at: http://www.suite101.com/c...ve-a222501 i mean, imo it would be tons more respectful to her memory. boycott, boycott, boycott, at least that's what i'm going to do, boycott buying any Amy Winehouse product for one year. In respect to her memory and life. I've heard D's voice and she is good. I hope she blows up! She sounds like almost a more civilized version of Amy (though Amy's vocals still are the best there were).
I never got into the whole... swag buying. I don't buy little Prince pendants and such. I buy tourbooks or souvenirs when I go to a show, but I'm not gonna buy a tshirt for a band. It just seems like free advertising and I'm not a lamp post (despite being as tall as one).
That being said, I'll buy any new music that comes out no matter how prepackaged and retread.

I'm not really a fan but I noticed this picture in a recent issue of Rolling Stone (sorry I could not find a bigger version):

She looks so healthy and happy in it. Practically no tattoos, the hair was much different and she appears to have a decent amount of weight to her. I guess I was just so accustomed to seeing her looking very skinny and disheveled that this picture really struck me.

It hasn't even been a month since Amy Winehouse died at age 27, and already a biopic about her tragically short life is reportedly in the works.Plans for a movie about the soulful singer have already been discussed with her family, The Sun claims, adding that the search for the right actress to play her has begun.SODAHEAD SLIDESHOW: Which...Winehouse?"The feeling is there wouldn't be an actress under 30 who wouldn't want to play her," an insider told the tabloid. "The first job is to get financial backing from co-production companies in the States. Some are showing interest because it's a sure-fire money-spinner."Winehouse fan Lady Gaga has already been linked to the role, after an insider told The Daily Star that "Gaga's been itching to make the transition from music into movies and sees this as the ideal role to launch her film career."Gaga may have the looks and the voice, but Lindsay Lohan knows better than anyone what it's like to NOT want to go to rehab. Taylor Momsen has the "pretty reckless" behavior down pat ... but Lea Michele kind of looks like Winehouse if you squint really hard.Let us know: Which actress should play Amy Winehouse?

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards are Sunday, Aug. 28. It will feature a tribute to the gone-too-soon singer Amy Winehouse, who passed away tragically last month at the age of 27.
Tony Bennett, whose duet with Winehouse that appears on his upcoming "Duets II" album and is the last recording she made before her death, will introduce the tribute. MTV and Bennett have released a statement detailing that the tribute would feature a debut video of Bennett's and Winehouse's recording session at the Abbey Road Studios in London. "It was a thrill to record with Amy Winehouse and when you listen to the recording of 'Body and Soul,' it is a testament to her artistic genius and her brilliance as one of the most honest musicians I have ever known," says Bennett. “Transracial is a term that has long since been defined as the adoption of a child that is of a different race than the adoptive parents,” : https://thinkprogress.org...fb6e18544a

Amy Winehouse update: Dad says singer died after suffering seizure caused by alcohol detoxification
Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, claims that his soul-singing daughter died after suffering a seizure caused by alcohol detoxification, reports the Associated Press. Winehouse made the remarks during a taping of Anderson Cooper’s new talk show, Anderson, which will premiere on Monday, Sept. 12, in syndication. Winehouse said that traces of the prescription drug Librium, which is used to fight anxiety and symptoms of alcoholism, were found in her body after her death on July 23. The singer’s family added that toxicology reports showed there was also alcohol in her bloodstream, although it is unclear how that contributed to her death. “Everything Amy did, she did to excess,” Winehouse told Cooper. “She drank to excess and did detox to excess.” Mitch Winehouse continued by saying that he regretted his daughter — who would suffer seizures and lose consciousness in the period before her death — was trying to kick alcoholism without a doctor’s help. “The periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter,” he said. “It was headed in the right direction.” A full inquest into the singer’s death, her father also revealed during the interview, will begin next month. ^ That's sad if true. One of the problems of quiting extreme alcoholism "cold turkey".
You can go into "DT's" or delirium tremens... You can have strokes or seizures if this happens.
Librium is one of the drugs of choice to combat DT's. Without medical treatment, the B/P and heart rate can climb to dangerous levels.... B/P's like 200/120. Average B/P = 120/80. and heart rate can go over 130, average heart rate = 80.
