That's one of my favorite AMY performances too. You can tell she was in good spirits! wink

yeah, and what i love so much about this awesome this performance, the way she workes the camera with her eyes. I love how she is using her whole body to sing, shaking like a bird when it ruffles its feathers, just to get different tones and vibrations.

What i find so amazing is after she says she is honored to be there she looks down and takes 2-3 steps back as they fade out.

It was during this time she was getting bad press in regards to Her and Blake, and still she stands by her man. Changing the lyrics to shout him out. Just Awesome!

"there will be none of him no more, i cried for ya 7614(?) MY BLAKE." She is so unapologetic straight SANGING "I told you i was trouble" and the way she rides the groove with her dance moves. and then at the line of the song the way she screams, she ment that shit!

then in Rehad... "i would rather be at home with my Blake"

I just love how she loves him so much and you can tell. NO FEMALE artist out today has that kind of devotion to herself. If you know what i mean.

there are so many reasons why this performance is so EPIC!.

also to be honest i can't believe no one has said how much Lady Gaga looks like her. espcially when she has black hair. Ms. Winehouse was definately an insperation.

Bar far one of the best Grammy performances EVER!

this is a great example of where reality and performance blend together perfectly!

That exceptance speech it Bomb Delicious!

Its called "co-dependency." She was well rid of him. neutral

[img]Funny how a persons passing brings so much about them to light. Case in point, a new twist:
http://www.tmz.com/2011/0...-st-lucia/

Amy Winehouse was preparing to adopt a 10-year-old girl from the island of St. Lucia, the girl and her grandmother told a British paper today.

The girl -- Dannika Augustine (seen above with Amy) -- says she met the singer during one of Amy's visits to the island over the past few years. She says she was living in poverty with her single mom when Amy took an interest in her.

Dannika tells The Sunday Mirror, "Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me ... She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me."

Dannika's grandmother Marjorie says she spoke to Amy a few weeks ago and that Amy planned to return to St. Lucia next month. She told the paper, "Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St Lucia completing the adoption process. There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her."

Both of Dannika's parents had signed off on the adoption.

All those people who KNEW it was an OD can eat their fucking words now. NO drugs or paraphenalia were found in the house, according to the police. I had a friend who's alcoholic husband tried to quit cold turkey and when she called his doctor, he said to give him a beer IMMEDIATELY or he could have a seizure. He didn't even drink liquor, just shitloads of beer all day, every day.

nod So it sounds like Amy was really fighting to get out of her addictions and her heart got the best of her in the end. sad

I read an article today that says her mother visited her the day before she died and describes how Amy had to be carried down the stairs to see her as she was drunk/hungover. Her mother says she was "out of it." I suspect there was alcohol invlved in her death. Maybe alcohol poisoning, who knows. she certainly wasnt going cold turkey by the sounds of thigs.

Also, her bodyguards who were employed to care for her, where were they when she was getting drunk, wasnt it their job to take care of her, this what they were being paid to do.

I still can't believe Amy sat around drinking all the time. What a boring life! Plus, alcohol doesn't even taste good. Chocolate milk is much better. So is cranberry juice.

Interesting but I'd believe it if the autopsy said she had alcohol in her blood stream. Guess we gotta wait another three weeks for that...

It doesn't. I was just giving my own thoughts on the flavor. I can't imagine drinking something all day that tastes like shit.

Amy Winehouse tops UK charts 8 days after her death

AP- 07312011 045hrs

http://news.yahoo.com/amy...44536.html

LONDON (AP) — Amy Winehouse's album "Back To Black" has climbed back to top of the British album chart, eight days after the singer died in London.

The Grammy award-winning album was also No. 1 in 2006 when it was released. Also on Sunday, Winehouse's debut album "Frank" reached No. 5.

my question: who will be receiving the royalties from the sales? the record company entirely, or will her mother and father be included?

Assuming she died without a will, her parents get her share of all future proceeds.

No children and no spouse, leave her parents as her heirs.

Just to set the record straight here. I like Amy. In a world of fakers she was a breath of fresh air. I've had about 6 or 7 of her songs on my ipod for years and love them, but the evidence is clear that she was not functioning right near the end. A producer who worked with her last year described her as "a write off" who was unable to focus. Mark Ronson also worked with her at the end and said she just wasn't in a fit state to be productive. He was tactful about it, but the message was clear. That's two of her producers both separately saying the same thing. Don't let your emotions cloud your judgement.

Like I said earlier, it seems she had recorded a lot of new stuff in '07 -'08 so that means there could well be some nice new tunes from that time. It should be a decent album, but it's not rational to expect anything great from the last two years.

I love this version. It's totally different from the original, vocally, but it's a cool update. I like Amy's dramatic vocals. I also like the barroom swagger of it, which she seemed to bring to much of her material. It was recorded last year for Q's album. Wish she had done a video!

I love it too! It got a lot of flack for the vocals but I think she sound's great. I burned my own copy of Back to Black with all the b-sides and I also added this song and Valerie since Mark Ronson produced them both. cool

Tony Bennett & Amy did a duet, can't wait to hear it!

http://www.tvguide.com/News/Amy-Winehouse-Tony-Bennett-1036053.aspx?rss=breakingnews&partnerid=tmz&profileid=breaking

Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett's "Body and Soul" duet will be released as a charity single benefiting a foundation being set up in her name.

Winehouse and Bennett recorded the track earlier this year for his upcoming Duets II album, which was the last record the singer made before her July 23 death.

"We're putting [the song] out ahead of the album [due out Sept. 20] and it's going to a foundation that her father started to teach all the young children not to take drugs, and all the royalties of the record will go to that," Bennett said on the Today show, adding that Winehouse "sang beautifully."

Winehouse's father, Mitch, announced at her funeral last week that he plans to start the Amy Winehouse Foundation to help those struggling with addiction. The foundation will also benefit children and horses — two of Winehouse's passions.

Amy Winehouse's family says alcohol withdrawal killed her

Meanwhile, Kelly Osbourne told Jay Leno on Wednesday's Tonight show that following the death of her friend Winehouse, "I haven't left my apartment much." When Leno pressed further regarding her friendship with Winehouse, Osbourne respectfully declined to discuss it. Watch that exchange at the end of this clip:

Dreamfirstborn, you hit the nail right on the head! You pointed out Amy's childlike characteristics that many don't see. I love how she always casually looked at the floor and sang her heart out and she would bust out some dance moves. This Grammy performance has much more sass than her other performances, lol. Amy was making a statement "I may not be at the Grammys but I'm still here kicking ass!" I know many don't like Blake but he was the inspiration behind almost all of her songs and I believe they were truly soulmates at heart. [Edited 7/31/11 1:23am]

Yes she has that child like element..You see her sucking her thumb with her dad and things like that.

She was a woman who just wanted love and affection as she herself had alot of that to give out..That is one of the saddest parts of this all, she couldn't find true love and a love that was pure and good.

I a not denying she loved Blake, of course she did.But I think the drugs brought their bond together and made them closer which to me makes it more of a fake love. Drugs are a powerful thing and the experiences people have on them can connect those people in a very close way, put that together with them dating and you got a very strong thing. Not a true thing though.

Duno if anyone watched the amy winehouse programme on c5 last night.Had Blakes first interview , done in 2009..He comes across more intelligent that I thought and I am sure has charisma. But at one point , he said all he was bringing to the relationship was that he was the one who could get the drugs..I just think their love was misguided due to the drugs

Amy had the capacity to love all different people and could have fallen in love with lots of different personalities...Them being soul mates I don't buy because I feel you can find more than one on this earth, But she stayed with him and got dependant on him and the drugs - their true bond.

Of course I am speculating and don't know how deep it went, but true love I am not so sure.
