Cause people still care about world issues and health issues over mental health, that's all. It's still misunderstood in this day and age, and they are too sad to even notice it.

It's not fair to compare, and my thoughts are with the people in Norway and the family, friends, and fans of Amy.
I always think it's sad when people die... doesn't really matter how IMO. [Edited 7/24/11 7:39am]

My heart goes out to Any's family, it really does. But two things always bug me when a celeb like this passes:-
1. The out-pouring of grief from supposed friends and celebs, "oh, its such a tragedy, we were so close....how will I replace her, blah, blah, blah". If they really cared that much where was their support and love when Amy needed it the most? Its all well and good spilling your emotional guts once they've passed, how about stepping in before its too late next time. Same thing happened when MJ passed...everyone came out of thee woodwork...funny how they weren't around when some friendly advice and care might have done him some good.
2. Amy is now being regarded as some sort of musical legend. It is very tragic indeed her passing at such a young age, and she did have talent, but lets not get carried away here. www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

^ yeah I agree people are acting like she's cool now when they were laughing at people like her and also Britney who was having problems around the same time. But I've mostly seen jokes as well.

Wow, I can't believe this. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am so sad to hear that Amy has passed. She was a great talent. I love her two cd's. I had a feeling this was going to happen to her, but I guess I just kept hoping she would get her act together and would get well again.
Rest in peace Amy. | |

Where is the compassion for Deangelo and Lauryn Hill, who are alledgedly fighting their own demons? Does the compassion only come after death?
Deangelo is called lazy because he hasn't put out an album in 10+ years. He's the butt of jokes because of his run ins with the law.
People still pissing on Maxwell for taking an 8 year hiatus.
None of us know what anyone is going through.
Anywho, R.I.P. Amy. | |

Truth IS something that everyone needs, I agree. However, there is something called tact; which the majority of the people on the Org, lack. Yes, she had issues and demons but, she was also somebody daughter and a human being. Human beings make mistakes, some learn from theirs while other spend most of their lives, trying to find their way. I think Amy, was one of those people. She wanted so badly to find her way, but couldn't. I think we are all like that, to some degree,(trying to find our way), it does us no good when other's who are JUST like us, feel the need to break our spirit, in the name of "truth". Really sad news. I admire her style and staying true. She did accomplish a lot eventhough she only released two records. Love her and thank her for sharing her talent through those amazing songs.
Nice, short and sweet.
Those first 10 chords sound really familiar. It sounds like "Had U" or "Leaving for New York". I think it's something from those 76-78 years. Does anyone with better ears know what it's from or sounds like?

I think there might be less compassion for those that you mentioned, because both give the impression that it is no big deal and "fuck those that don't like it", I get this especially from Lauryn, who sometimes gives off this, "I am a diva and you all MUST kiss my ass", attitude. Amy, just seemed to be the type who wanted help, but did not know how, whom, or where to get it. She also seemed more humbled that those two... Fuck.
LIFE is not good for you.
We all do things EVERY day that aren't good for us.
Sports aren't good for you, do you criticize every athlete that dies from injuries?
Caffeine is also a drug that isn't good for you.
Reading these types of judgemental posts isn't good for anyone either.
Shame on YOU.

I agree, FUCK THEM and Patrick you did not need to post that shit here. You find the most irrelevant people making critical statements and think that's a good thing to post in a memorial thread?
I woke up this morning hoping that this had all been a bad dream...
Amy, you will live on in those of us with hearts and souls!

Exactly. It makes no sense. I guess anyone grieving for someone who meant something to them is not allowed that since somewhere, someone else died?

Umm, who is this thread about? AMY WINEHOUSE, not ANYONE else. You want to grieve about how those folks are living their lives, go start a thread for them.

Why not?? Fellow musicians (who mostly were fighting the same problems) commenting on the passing of one of their peers! And they are relevant... at least some of them. If you don't like what they have to say, that's your problem. At least they (some) seem more honest than some of the other commenting people.

Go ask that asshole Ted Nugent what he thought of MJ and post it in the MJ thread if you think he's worthy of quoting.
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah! Nuge is an ass! Everyone knows that and I don't agree with his statement! But he's not the only one commenting, isn't he? And not every comment is like his... so save you're enragement. And I do recall some people saying crappy things about MJ too.

Yes, Ms. Winehouse may have done some very self-destructive things to herself up until her untimely death, but before any of us judge her life choices too harshly, remember, addiction is a disease. She had many friends and family members trying to help her, and it appears she even went in for treatment several times, but if it is revealed that her death was drug related, maybe she just succumbed to a disease she could not overcome.
Would you tell the family of a cancer victim who just died that he/she should have gotten chemotherapy? Would you tell the family of a heart disease patient who recently died that their loved one should have quit eating so much fatty food or put down those cigarettes? Very few people would be as heartless to say that to families of cancer or heart disease victims, yet we seem to be okay to judge drug and alcohol addicts differently. For all we know, she may have been getting treatment and it just wasn't enough to save her. And we don't have any idea what else was going on with her life either, so we shouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions.

Yeah, all the ice cream, candy & cigs I smoked yesterday trying to comfort myself aren't good for me either. (and I'd quit smoking for a year before some crap made me start again a couple of months ago, now I've got to work on quitting again...ugh.)
