I wish the people talking shit in this thread would realize that what they're doing is tantamount to pissing on someone's grave. Sure, she wasn't perfect, but neither are you. Would you really like it if on announcement of your passing or the passing of someone close to you, people badmouthed them/you and picked over all your life choices?
I'm kind of disappointed in humanity right now. I expected more from you guys than what I'm seeing. You all ought to be ashamed. If you don't have anything decent to say, then the right and respectful thing to do is to stay mum and not comment here.
Very well put! Especially the disappointment part, with the deaths in Norway and countless other things, to actually make this about someones "talent" is fucking hilarious, WHO GIVES A SHIT. This kind of talk is why alot of artists who get the critics pat on the back and the public's also, cant live up to what THEY want. Now i wasnt a fan, but i at least understand the powers of being NO ONE one day and then the person everyone is talking about, every award is given to you, but that doesnt change the person U are, sorry, i dont know why people think that ARTISTS that make it big, all of a sudden dont have their issues still. Money and fame dont make shit go away, they make it worse. People sat around for years ON THIS FORUM and kept pushing for new music when they should have been more concerned with HEALTH rather than their iPod status. There is a whole other debate we can get into about rehabs and drugs and de-criminalizing them etc...but lets not go there. But i think we all knew when Kurt Cobain was going to die, and i think seriously we felt that this "story" was already written, and now peeps are going to reap rewards off her death....very sad this life is.

Yep. People just don't know how to seperate artistry and talent from troubles and demons. Sometimes the writings are on wall when it comes to one's mishaps, especially when they have trouble seeing it themselves. Even though we don't know when their last day will be, we take things like this lightly when they are here on earth. I feel like Amy was simply at battle with herself, whether the media was taking jabs at her or if she was doing disastrous, substance-fueled performances. That was one part of her life true, but it certainly created her demise. Let's be honest here. Her downfall was what people represented her for more than her music, during the last years of her life. Talking about this whole situation now that she has now departed is simply sad, but what's even more fateful is that many didn't focus closely on her deterioration while she was here. They joked, depised her, cheated her, etc. I don't even think Amy defended herself either. I could be wrong or misled, but I don't even think she did. It just got worse before it got better.

No i think you pretty much got it, im sure we will find out soon that all her money made was probably taken from her. But the big issue is just we often debate things like Charts,Albums,Units Sold, Hits and Flops and BS like that, how much ure album sold week 1, I mean all that crap is useless if you are still in a state where you are not healthy and doing things to hurt you and everyone around you is just as bad. The sad thing is that rehabs and all that stuff are great but YOU HAVE to have a base of people around you, whether its family friends a spouse a pet whatever, U have to have a reason to live and SORRY FOLKS money is not a reason nor is a chart position.

I thought she was incredibly overrated as an artist. Sad news, but this was completely expected.
Well you were wrong. Great songwriter and a good singer. It is sad that she was not able to beat drugs and once again the music world lost another talent to dope.

Very sad. Her 2 albums are great and I was really hoping she would get it together and continue her career. There are too few truly talented artists in the industry (with that kind of exposure) as it is for something like this to happen. R.I.P. Amy. I was a fan
I was out all day away from all media outlets so was saddened to just hear about this. I'm sure as many have said...wasn't shocked but what a loss. Hopefully she can find the peace she never had here. R.I.P Amy.
