Patti LaBelle Names Ledisi As Her Successor

Last month when BET paid tribute to Patti LaBelle it was apparent that the legendary diva is unparalleled. Despite Cee-Lo and Marsha Ambrosius best attempts many felt the tribute fell short of capturing the wonder that is Patti LaBelle. Few (if any) possess the vocal talent to rival Patti, who at 67 years old still flawlessly belts out her hits which span four decades. While the public may continue to dispute who has the vocal chops to honor Patti, she’s already identified her second coming. In a rare and touching interview Patti raves about young r&b crooner, Ledisi. The Grammy award winning artist is just beginning to receive widespread acceptance but Patti believes she is “the new her.”

Yes she is..you have to see her live to grasp the essence of Ledisi.

I just feel she goes deeper than most so-called "neo-soul" singers. She blew me away with Turn Me Loose. I'll get her new album sometime later this month or next (depends lol).

Patti LaBelle is a living legend - a true talent who with an amazing voice and showmanship that puts the vast majority of singers past and present to shame. I just saw her in concert for the first time last Saturday and she was fantastic. Her catalog speaks for itself. She is a veteran who has survived 50 years in the music industry and 67 years on this planet. She is regal - a beautiful, talented and gracious black woman who deserves more respect.

By the way, I saw Ledisi live a month ago and she is very talented and a great performer. I think it is a compliment for a legend like Patti to acknowledge her gifts. She's no Patti, but she has a long road ahead of her. I am sure she will create her own legacy. I doubt Ledisi sees Patti the way you do.
