I will refrain from posting it (any of them), but the Metallica version is actually pretty damn good. And when they hit it just right live its a powerful two and a half minutes. However, I'm sure the Queen version, which I love, would have a bit more muscle on it if it had been recorded twenty years later.

It is one of the first speed metal song's, but i don't consedir Queen a metal band at all. I mean they even did a half opera album... i can't consedir them metal at all minus a few track's Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Maybe you don't consider them to be a metal because you didn't listen to early 3 Queen albums. On the first three albums they invented genres like Speed and Trash metal. First album(s) had sticker that says no synthisizers. But Queen were way too cleaver and progressive to stay at the same musical ground so they started adding other elements to their sound first there was Rock Opera then disco, funk,New Wave even punk(Sheer heart Attack) but at the end of their career Queen returned to their mothership Heavy Metal. Last few albums were much heavier affair then almoust all of the stuff they did during 80's.
p.s. If you know Queen for I Want To Break Free then you would laugh at my subject but if you dig deeper

I do have there first 3 albums Queem there debut is a personal fav, but i always feel it more glam rock, while Queen II operatic but yes heavier elements. Innuendo was a very heavy album though i love it. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Glam metal more then glam rock Glam Rock is David Bowie Ziggy Stardust phase and T=Rex and Queen had a much heavier sound When i think of hard rock sound i think of heavy rock that relays on blues while heavy metal was more about classical influence. Blues definetly was never a style of Queen maybe the only genre of popular music where they failed to make a decent blues number. They were the genre for themself if we must define the Queen sound but if we simplified things it is safe to say that the base of Queen sound is Heavy Metal.

I wouldn't say they were metal at all, Just good heavy rock, which is fine. sure they went heavy occaisionally but all in all just a Rock band.

It's hard to categorize Queen. When they came out initially, it was mainly on an adventurous glam rock tip. Over time, they included opera, classical music, hard rock, arena rock, disco, funk, rockabilly, gospel, R&B, etc.
"Stone Cold Crazy" has elements of heavy metal, glam rock and hard rock to me.
