^ Ooh touche.
Anyways, Marvin wrote it so it don't matter but the 1970 original was great.

I would have also posted the live version that Elvis Costello released on the Rhino Punch the Clock reissue but I wasn't able to find it.
I had never heard the Color Me Badd version. Shockingly, the arrangement is pretty good but the vocals are not to my taste.

I didn't wanna hear CMB's version for that purpose lol

But no one can touch the original tune

I noticed the Originals version I'm playing now sounds alternate to the "popular" version. Of course Marvin's all over the track with the background vocals. Just hear closely.

That's because Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis produced it.

Yup, I'll go for The Originals too.
On a similar note, I also prefer The Flamingos version of I Wanna Sex You Up from 1958. "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

Am I laughing? I am cause Color Me Badd's version is not even in the same ballpark when compared to The Originals.
