Janet Jackson vs The Jackson 5

After Michael, who was the next most successful act in the Jackson family in terms of popularity, sales and influence?

Jackson 5 started it all and set a foundation, Janet used that to her advantage and carved out a path of her own that lasted for decades, and she broke charts records and reigned for a very long time

After Michael though, I think I would give it to Janet for commercial success and iconic impact, and Jackson 5 for cultural impact, commercial success and doing what no other black teen band did to my knowledge, plus hip hop samples J5 quite a bit, so they are still relevant musically, though if you ask people of my generation the names of the other members, you're not going to get far.

You'll be suprised. More people can name Jacksons than Beates, I'd say.

Agree. I can't name anyone else from the Beatles but Paul and John. Also this post is kind of dumb. Janet is a solo artist the Jackson 5 were a group plus they were out way before she was so you can't compare

1. Michael

2. Janet

3. J5

4. Jacksons

5. Jermaine

after, it gets ify. Latoya released like 10 albums but had no real hits. Marlon dropped one solo album, but had a number 2 hit.

6. Rebbie

7. LaToya

8. Jackie

9. Randy

Thank you! Randy is the least successful NOT La Toya. Wait isn't Toya the only Jackson to never have a gold record?

Yeah, but she released 10 albums. Pretty sure her ten outsold Randy's 1.
