I don't play many modern video games, I miss platforms and RPGs.

Sonic 2, Mario World, ToeJam and Earl, and Pokemon Red are still keeping me entertained whenever I want to play.

I still own a Pentium I Win 98 which I use JUST for 89-99 videogames cool cool

I hate the 90ies. The 70ies and especially the 80ies were so much better. The 90ies started well with grunge, but it went downhill from there very fast. Too much gangsta shithop, boygroups and plastic acts like Britney Spears. Never before were so many talentless idiots in the charts. And here in europe we had that god awful eurodance and techno-shit. It was the decade were DJ's became bigger stars than musicians. What a disgrace.

The 1990s is the decade that took everything stylish out and just threw it away. The more plain and ordinary an artist looked, the more they liked it. barf

And thats the 90s in a nutshell barf Sorry, no love for the 90s here, the 80s were the best decade hands down (how can you not love the decade that gave us MTV, Atari and Jem & the Holograms? lol). Actually I think the best and most interesting and exciting decades were the 60s, 70s and 80s. Even tho those decades were before my time, I find myself enjoying the music, TV shows and movies from the 60s, 70s and especially the 80s moreso than the 90s and especially the 00s.

The 90s had some good stuff but overall was mostly wack for me. The best TV shows during then imo were Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Family Matters. Beverly Hills 90210 was kinda cool too. Oh yeah, Twin Peaks was great too. There was some good music during then, but most of it wasnt, and the R&B/Hip-hop music videos from 95-on were nothing but uninspired mess.

Of course this is only my opinion. The 90s werent completely horrible I guess, but I find that decade to be boring and just bland, blue and blah...and the fashion trends sucked too. I know that in about 5 years there will probably be a I miss the Early 00s thread posted here as well! shake

I'm not sure how old you are but you said that "Actually I think the best and most interesting and exciting decades were the 60s, 70s and 80s. Even tho those decades were before my time." Maybe you have less fond memories of the '90s because you lived through them and experienced the crap first hand? Trust me, there was a lot of crap in the '60s, '70s and '80s too. With the older decades you can cherrypick the good stuff without having to suffer through the crap. From a distance every decade has quite a bit of worthwhile music.

Having said that I think a whole heck of a lot of distance is going to be necessary in order to find the good music circa 2000-present. Maybe I'm just becoming a cantankerous old man but that was a horrible decade of music.

nod Yep that's pretty much what I'm doing is cherrypicking the good stuff from those decades. I know there was crap in the other decades as well, but since I didnt live thru those decades, their crap seems more interesting then 90s and todays crap lol But when I talk to ppl who were around in the 60s, 70s, 80s, even they prefer their decade to the recent decades...and they lived thru whatever crap from that decade and still seem to have a fondness for those decades as opposed to the recent times.

The best two shows that came out in the 1990s that I can think of that I liked were "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Will and Grace". The 1990s had some absolutely horrible TV. Reality shows began in that decade. barf

The 90's was the real beginning of the Tech revolution.

Personal home computers and the internet! come on lol

Laptops started in this decade.

Cell phones were smaller and what about beepers! lol ( ok nevermind beepers)

CDs were king and were quickly replacing tapes and vinyl.

The VCR was huge and home entertainment was taken seriously in the 90s.

By the mid 90s animation and film took a big turn into CGI.

Yes the 80s had computers and such but noone took them seriously. lol

Also Maxx, Snap and Captain Hollywood! They did so much for dance music and were Euro-based, but aren't talked about enough.

OMG! I'm so glad someone mentioned Captain Hollywood! He was sooooo insanely underrated. How about Culture Beat? They shared a songwriter with Captain Hollywood, I believe. And I remember Snap changing their sound so much with Welcome To Tomorrow, yet still really loving it. That album still holds up well today IMO. How about Ya Kid K? She put out an absolutely BOMB album on her own, without Technotronic. Qkumba Zoo had an album I loved, Wake Up and Dream, that had gorgeous album art. As for radio, I also remember obsessively listening to B96 in Chicago, which seemed to be one of the only stations where dance and hip-hop co-existed happily, until that cruel, cruel day when they switched formats...

Did anybody here do Usenet? I used to lurk in alt.music.dance all the damn time.

And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex

I tell you what I miss about the nineties. A time of digging trough cds at an abundance of music stores and finding that something you did not know about and being amazed, not having to have the internet to rent decent movies, and basically everything not being so completely computer dependent. I love my laptop and mp3 player but damn I miss simpler times.
