Lady Gaga on Howard Stern (7/18)/My trip back from beach ...

So I was driving my oldest back from the beach over the weekend ... and not ONCE but a few times the song by Lady Gaga that came on was "I'm on the edge of glory" (is that the title ... i dont know) ... and the conversation quickly became how music today isnt .... well .. ya know ... lol

but i also told my 12 yr old ... that song isnt one of Lady Gaga's strongest songs (says the elder 46 yr old-codger ... ) mainly because she says "i'm on the edge" about 90 times thru the song ...

so my 12 yr old counts .... i digress ... i forget how many times she actually says this ....

so TODAY on Howard .... Lady Gaga is on ... and she sings it live .... and talks about the song ... and how she came up with the idea when her 90 yr old grandpa was dying a horrible death from cancer or something ... but anyways .. I gotta say ... and I admit it when I am wrong ... I have a new respect for her ... and her singing .... a great example of some of these "artists" have to do interviews and get their "thoughts " out there ... (hint hint Prince) ...

just my thoughts ... it was a great interview ... still have to listen to some more of it ... missed some of it driving around today for work .... lol wink smile

I've always thought Howard Stern is an asshole; I've never understood his appeal.

I did remember ... during his interview ... how he ripped on her ...

but I thought he had a legitimate gripe . She does come off alil ... "Prince-like" when she lectures ... during her concert etc ...

but that is Howard ...

and most people are just like that ... they will put someone down ..and if that someone confronts them .. they somewhat cowher ... cowwherr ? hmmm.. i should just spell check that one ! confused

It was a pretty good interviewer, he asked her stuff no one else does. Usually people just ask her what her name means and what the fuck she is wearing.

Howard is the kind of person that will completely change his mind about someone as soon as the step in the studio, sometimes I like that about him.

I was at a party recently ... and a guy told me that he was a big Howard fan , until Howard got divorced ...

I was kinda the same way ... thinking Howard wouldnt "now" be as funny ...

but then he is now re-married ... for like 8 years +/- ... so ... I still think he is as neurotic as anyone ... and in some ways I think he reminds me just how neurotic we all are .... about our parents .... our lil "issues" with parenting ... sometimes I think we all need therapy ... and Howard goes to therapy I guess 3 times a week !

9/11 really made a fan out of me ... the way Howard stayed in the studio and kept broadcasting ... they recently re-played that episode ... it was an unique day ... so trouble-ing yet with Howard on the air ... it brought it all home for alot of us ... so much better than Dan Rather or some of the other people could do ...

if there is one thing about Howard that troubles me ... it is Artie ... still have reservations about that guy ... I hope he is better or ... in a better place now .

I love Howard Stern, he's brilliant and hilarious. I could do without the tv show. It only shows one side of him - and strippers galore (gets old real quick). I used to listen to him when I was a kid, when he was on WNBC or KROCK. One of the funniest guys on the planet.

Lady Ga Ga is good . She's very smart and talented, but much ado about nothing in my opinion. As Howard pointed out she's using Madonna's playbook almost word for word, but I've never thought much of Madonna either. They're both brilliant self-marketers and good at writing or recording hit songs. But, I wonder how far either of them would get if they didn't have big tits and a pretty face.

Gaga has small boobs and I've never heard anyone refer to her as being pretty. She's not conventionally good looking by any means and doesn't try to really sell that image, so you can't accuse her of using her looks to sell her music.

What Gaga has going for her is a good (not great) voice, catchy songs, an interesting image and she's constantly doing outrageous things and trying to push the envelope to get people's attention.

I'm not a big fan at all and find her to be quite contrived and overrated, but she's one of the more interesting pop stars out today that's for sure. I agree that just like Madonna she's brilliant at marketing herself and her music, but I also respect the fact that she actually gives a damn about her music and her "art".

You're right. I've only seen a couple boob photos, but most of what I've found online were more "Glam Rock" type photos. And yes she is interesting to say the least. I don't get the whole arriving in an egg motif, but I can't say everyone understands all of the stuff I like either.

One of my closest friends loves her, so I'll have to check her out a little more.

Thanks for the info everyone...esp the Howard Stern interview.

People often compare the two. I see Madonna as the kind of provocative maverick performer that paved the way for Lady Gaga... but I'm going to say that Gaga overall has more talent. She sings, plays, writes, dances - has the stage presence and the "nerve" as she said on Howard. She's good.
