Ohio Players' Unsung on tonight

I'm not expecting it to be a full-on story about them knowing they'll miss some topics but who's tuning in to see it regardless anyway?

To be honest, I always predict some of these "Unsung" shows to be boring or real good. The Ohio Players' one looks to be good but I get low expectations with this because they either hint at it or totally avoid it but we shall see. nod

I will! I actually don't know anything about them but I love Unsung and music documentaries in general, so i'll be watching for sure. Maybe it will turn me on to their music.

I'll be tuning in...or if the tv ends up watching me instead, I've set my DVR to record it. I love some of their music but I don't really know too much about them, other than Mr. Sugafoot.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

How can you do a an ep on the Ohio Players and not mention Funky Worm? Didn't that go all the way to #1 on the R&B charts and was recorded before Junie Morrison left the group and before they signed to Mercury Records? I was impresed that they managed to get the model for the Pain album.

Not to speak ill of the deceased but man it's unbelievable Satch did his

boys like that causing the group to crash and burn with members losing

their cars and houses. Wow.

I agree and I was mad they ignored the contributions of Junie. Unsung could do some cold things too. Really "Funky Worm" was THE START and they didn't focus on that song at least?! The fuck!? Their first top 40 pop hit at that! neutral

#1 for a week in early 1973 (released in late 1972) and #15 pop. And it was the creation of Junie Morrison, who played the old grandma in the song. The fact they omitted that made viewing their episode unpleasant.

Unfortunately that's the way it is. It's hard to tell everything in 42 minutes with about

18 of it being commercials. I noticed details have been left out of some of these

but what can they do. It works the same to an extent with VH1 Behind the Music.

So true. I was surprised they left shit out of Missy's episode for example.

Is Junie even on talking terms with the remaining members?

Don't be blaming time constraints. It's the incompetent producers and researchers who continually prove they only have a middle school level comprehension. shrug

Supposedly they asked Junie to contribute and he wanted to get paid. They balked because they already had Sugar, Marshall and Diamond.
