I just can't get into jazz at all.

I think I could actually become a country music fan before I could 'do' jazz, and that's saying ALOT. lol

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Imaginative

Way more jazz that I like than Jazz that I don't like. But my top 8 roll off the tongue pretty easily:

Duke

Monk

Lady Day

Ella

Miles

Satchmo

Bird

Hancock

Not a big fan of smooth jazz post-Bitches Brew. (Not saying Brew is "smooth," just smooth jazz in general after 1970 or so.)

Davis, Hancock. I tried to get into Sun-Ra years ago and it just sounded like a load of angry geese so I gave up, he has some nice melodic stuff too though of course.

I like Jazz Fusion stuff more really, Weather Report is the obvious one, I loved Tal Wikenfelds debut album too, she should do another.
