I saw "Morris Day and The Time" at the Essence Festvial this past weekend. I knew it wasn't going to be the original line up, but I expected to see Jerome. Instead there was someone there "playing" Jerome. Where is Jerome?

Jerome's been out of the touring version of the Time for a few years now.

OMG. I hate when bands do this shit. I'd rather just not see any Jerome at all than for them to hire an actor to play him on stage. The audience knows who's real and who's not. That's just like when Tone Toni Tony performs with that cousin of theirs "acting" like Raphael Saadiq. Lawd, when will these folks learn.

The show was off the hook. Jellybean and Monte was there, but I was thrown off by the guy that was "playing" Jerome. He did a good job, but I still would have liked to see the real deal.

By the way, what heppend to the new CD with the original crew?

Who knows? Supposedly they're in conflict with Prince over the name rights. There's a thread or 2 about this in the Associated Artists section.

After seeing the original The Time per4rm a few years ago in Vegas. I don't want 2 c any other form of the group per4rm anymore. Unless its the original members including Jerome.

Jerome adds so much to it. Not the same without him...The new formed Morris Day & The Time is a good talented group. I've seen them many times. But after seeing all of the originals it will NEVER compare.

Because the rest of TTT still want to tour as the band even though Raphael wants nothing to do with TTT right now and focusing on his solo career. I can understand that, I mean Dwayne and Tim are talented and shouldn't be sujected to just do away with TTT just because Raphael doesn't want to be a part of it, but why not just hire a different lead singer who is their own instead of using a relative with similar looks and vocals to Raphael and moving around on stage like Raphael would have had he be performing instead?

Anyway, it would be nice to hear the new cd sooner or later. Also, Morris did put on a good show with the "touring" Time. I was glad to see Monte and Jellybean there.

Because people like familiarity. It gives them the illusion that its still Sadiq, even though its not...I think its a brilliant idea...The Time replaced its members and still going strong live after over 25 years..Trust me its better now than b4.

My point is lead singers leaving doesn't have 2 stop the group. In TTT case its better. The Temptations kept on without Mr Ruffin. Whose ego was over the top. No one needs a big ego in the way. It brings the group down...

The Temps always had a Eddie Kendricks clone (especially Damon Harris). The casual listener probably didn't notice the difference.

Though I wasn't even born when the songs originally came out, I am definitely a Temps fan and I can DEFINITELY tell the difference between the two.

Me too. After a certain age, when I thought the same members stayed together, I started to make sense of how strong Eddie's voice really was. Damon by comparison was weaker.
