Madonna and Ga Ga - can't dance. FACT - NO ARGUMENTS.

It seems like in any list these two are eligible for they seem to creep into even if without merit.

[Edited 7/15/11 8:40am]

Gaga's not a good dancer, but I don't see how anyone can say Madonna can't dance. She got a dance scholarship to the University of Michigan and danced with several professional companies in New York before she turned to music. So clearly someone thought she could dance. There are some facts for you. But I guess you just hate Madonna and don't want to hear the facts.

I know you probably won’t believe me but I am actually a big fan of Madonna. "LAP" and her debut are ace - I've seen her two times in concert and used to have the biggest crush on her when I was young.

But none of her dancing I’ve seen of hers has impressed me. Sure she has great videos but the choreography is all pretty amateur to me - it's more style over substance.

I cringe when I think about the running man dance she done during the blonde ambition tour when she was performing "causing a commotion/ get into the groove' or the yoga thing she did in the 'Sorry' video.

There are plenty of artists who may not be as successful as her or as influential but are damn good dancers and deserve a place on the list- Paula Abdul. J-LO, Usher, Chris Brown, MC Hammer, Bobby Brown - can wipe the floor with her.

IMO there is no justification for her being on the list. If was a poll on 'the greatest female artists' or "the most influential artists in the last 30 years' and Madonna was right up there - I'd keep my lips sealed.

I guess that's before it decided to compete with People magazine.

They also give just about every single album they review 3 or 3 1/2 stars.

They must be terrified of stepping on toes after their reviews ruined any relationship the mag could have had with Led Zeppelin.

In this incredible footage from around 1980, Prince is brought up on stage by Michael Jackson during a James Brown performance, leading the pint-sized pop genius to upstage both men with surreal, wildly imaginative moves.

What? lol He upstaged them with a heavy dose of confuse

In defense of the list, it's based on READERS' votes.

This may help explain why the magazine has gotten so bad, though. Their readers have terrible taste!

yes, and for those 10 year olds to be picking James Brown, Mick Jagger, Prince, and to know who Thom Yorke is at all, means that RS is at least partly doing it's job!

That really is a stupid list. Mike is the only one who deserve that spot cause even though I know I may be biased as an MJ fan, I think he truly is the best. I know Mike learned a lot from James, but he also learned a lot from Fred Astaire and many other people, but he still made his own style, which is so rare. James was great, but you would never see him dance like Fred Astaire and wise versa. Mike could do them all and still be himself.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Of course not, but I don't feel qualified to decide the other places, cause I really can't tell who's really better - Madonna or Janet? And how to put James in there? Of course, he was great, he had his style, but he never did any choreographed stuff and now what is considered to be better, be able to do all the choreographed stuff or do your thing? Since Mike could do it all, I think that makes him qualified for number one spot, but I really can't say about the others. I am no expert.
