Second Rock Bassist in Trouble with Cops this Week

How wierd. First the Coheed and Cambria bassist robbing the pharmacy of Oxycontin on the way to his festival gig and now ex-Queens of the Stone Age bassist in a 5 hour hostage standoff.

Ex-Queens of the Stone Age Rocker in Standoff With LAPD

Someone needs to go with the flow all right.

Nick Oliveri, a former bassist for California rock band Queens of the Stone Age, was arrested Tuesday night following a five-hour standoff with a SWAT team after he allegedly prevented his estranged girlfriend from leaving their Los Angeles home.

Maybe she wasn't a fan of the goatee.

Per an LAPD spokeswoman, Oliveri and his girlfriend got into a heated argument and the musician subsequently barricaded the two of them in their residence when she tried to leave, prompting a neighbor to call the cops and report a disturbance.

A SWAT team arrived on the scene and a standoff ensued, during which time Oliveri released the woman. However, he remained holed up inside until officers persuaded the 39-year-old rocker to give himself up just before 11 p.m.

According to authorities, the couple had gotten into a spat on Monday and he allegedly hit her. Police were called to the scene but Oliveri took off before he could be interviewed.

The unnamed girlfriend returned the next day to move her things out, setting off the tense showdown.

TMZ reported that investigators found a high-powered loaded rifle after taking Oliveri into custody but the LAPD spokeswoman could not confirm that as of press time.

Oliveri was booked on felony domestic violence and is now in jail. Bail was set at $100,000.

An attorney for the bassist could not be reached for comment.

No good can from a man who has more hair on his chin than the top of his head.

I played some with Nick a few years ago, I've been to his place. No idea if it's the same girlfriend he had when I knew him, a really nice woman from Denmark.

I know him as a great musician and a nice, generous guy that would offer you a drink from the last two inches of his last remaining liquor bottle. But he's made no secret of his fondness for speed over the years. Tweakerish behavior is nothing new but I was never scared in his presence or anything. He seemed unpredictable, maybe a little self-destructive, but not dangerous.

So I find this very sad. But you can return to your LOLing if you find it funny.

I just thought what RKJCNE said was hilarious. It could have been about anybody with a blad head and beard from Rob Halford to Chris Daughtry. It was the joke itself, not the subject of the joke that was funny.

Nick could be a great guy.

I used to find drug addiction sad, but as young as I am Ive had to many experiences with addicts to treat them as anything more than a joke to me.

It is a sad situation that this man's addiction is ruining his and other people's lives.

But seeing as I don't know this man and I don't have any impact on his life, I would rather laugh than symopthize.

And I hold my statement true, I don't trust men with ponytails or men with more chin hair than dome do.

Blaque Knight I appreacite that LOLs hug
