I think this album is a transitional one.... she caught between her tried and true soul music and trying out a more rocky blues sound. The next album should be a great marriage between the 2. It starts out really nice but midway and the album loses steam that isn't regained until the last track or so. I gotta live with it longer before I decide to purchase. Her sophomore and junior albums are essential listening if you are a fan. The debut is more novelty and the last one is definitely for the fans.
I really love the ability to download/preview albums before wasting hard earned cash on crap. Stevie Wonder = EARTH

I personally feel like LP1 is essentially an extension to her last album, Colour Me Free! It felt like she was transitioning herself from her regular R&B sound on that album, but she is now getting her rock bag fully rocking on this new album. I haven't copped it nor listened to it regularly. I'm disappointed by it actually. I've given up on Joss, point blank. Check me out and add me on:

First-week sales started with 30,000 copies , according to Billboard. It's a self-released project, but she needs to promote it in earnest. | |

All that oversinging and hollering she does is just too much for me. She tries too hard. I just don't feel that her "soulful" singing is genuine. Maybe I should give her album a chance though because I've never given her music a chance really, but her forced vocals and oversinging are huge turn off's for me.
