Joss Stone's Latest Project, LP1 (Thread II)

[img:$uid]http://i55.tinypic.com/313lnj7.jpg[/img:$uid]

May 5, 2011

Joss Stone has revealed plans surrounding her forthcoming album.

Stone is due to release her fifth studio album on July 26, following a three-year break during which she pursued her acting career on the TV series The Tudors.

The project will serve as the follow-up to 2009's Color Me Free!, which only managed to peak at number 75 on the UK album chart, although it did give Stone her second top ten record in the US.

The singer posted an image earlier today on her official Facebook page, which seems to confirm the album title as LP1. It is not yet known whether the image posted will be the official album artwork or if it's just a concept photo.

The record will be Stone's first independent release and will be distributed via her own record label Stone'd Records following her departure from EMI last summer.

The album was produced by Eurythmics star David A. Stewart, who has previously worked with the likes of Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr and Katy Perry.

Didn't watch the videos - but did she mention that she's part of Jagger's new SUPERHEAVY band - about to drop a couple and probably tour. Line-up includes Damian Marley, Dave Stewart, Jagger and Joss. Sounds like a Superheavy line-up to me. Can't wait to hear something.

Never been that impressed with her until I heard this track off of Jeff Beck's album.

Sounds like she needs to go ahead and be a full on Rock chick.

My opinion is that its a really unoriginal album title and she has a great voice but she STILL sounds like she's oversinging everything. I thouht that would fade more with age, but it really hasn't.

I don't think she's oversinging at all. She's singing them the way she and Dave wrote them.

She oversings everything. Sounds like she's trying to sing through pain or a really serious dump. Again, I like her and I like her voice. But she oversings.

I see that she is getting away from that R&b sound.

I'm not feeling this project.

I generally buy her albums on the first day of their release. This one has me flummoxed due to its less-than-subtle shift in sound . I'll likely buy it but there's no rush.

Lol.....she jumped ship.

I'm bummed that she jumped ship, but the vocals are still r&b vocals at least. Hmmm...

Is this being released in a special edition anywhere?

What you said. Although, I have not scanned the album yet. I am all for an artist trying new sounds rather than staying in the same genre all the time. Hopefully, something does jump out at me. I only own two Joss Stone songs. Maybe, hopefully, one or two more.

Like I said, smoking has ruined her voice.

Same thing happened to Katy Perry.

I actually like the more agressive sound, tracks like "Karma" are exactly where she should be music wise, i think the RB thing was wearing thin, this is RB but an even more live agressive rock sound, David Stewart is a master at that kind of stuff!

Initially, I recoiled but now I like the songs more since picking up the album and giving it a thorough listening.
