Check out this Super Oldies concert I'm going to

On Saturday February 8,I will be attending a Super Oldies Concert in my area featuring...

***The Intruders---These guys sing the late 60s classic "Cowboys To Girls".

***Deniece Williams---I've seen her at previous Super Oldies shows and she is FANTASTIC!!! She brings the house down, with songs like "It's Gonna Take A Miracle","Free" and "Silly".I always give her a standing ovation.

***The Floaters---When these guys come on,I'll take my restroom break...lol...they suck big time! They are responsible for the 1977 hit "Float On",but since it's their one and only hit, they will pad out their set with other artists' songs.

***Evelyn "Champagne" King---She is outrageous! I saw her at a previous Oldies show and she does a kickass job.I expect her to sing "Shame","Love Come Down" and "I'm In Love".

***Heatwave---They're still doing their thing, even though many of the members are new. They do their three hits: "Boogie Nights","Always And Forever" and "The Groove Line".Unfortunately, there isn't time for them to do other favorites like "Sho Nuff Must Be Love" and "Happiness Togetherness".

***The Moments---Y'all know their hit..."I found Love On A Two-Way Street, and lost it on a lonely highway".They also sing "Look At Me I'm In Love" and "Special Lady".

***GQ---These guys are responsible for a pair of great 1979 hits,"Disco Nights (Rock Freak)" and "I Do Love You".I always enjoy seeing them in concert.

***Tierra---Ah yes!! These guys are bad!! They are known primarily for their 1980 hit "Together" ( a remake of an old Intruders song). But they also get the crowd going with songs like "Zoot Suit Boogie" and "Memories".

To those of you who live in the Bay Area, this show has just been announced.Get your tickets now,it's gonna be a sell-out!!

Yes, really tho. I hope you're around for consultation when I start working on my cultural history research. Ha!

You could give Nelson George a run for his money!

I heard about it last night and checked out the radio station website that is promoting it. I nearly fell out of my seat. I MUST GO!!! I don't care if I have to adopt somebody.

O.K.--I am TRULY jealous. I had no idea Heatwave was still kickin' it. Those guys need to have a tour all their own. And GQ?? If this tour doesn't swing through Detroit I will be sorely disappointed! smile

Have fun for me, too, DavidEye!

Oh yes,I know that song! In concert, they're gonna perform it as part of a medley..."Gonna Find Her"/La La means I Love You"/Are We In Love".This is always the highlight of their show, for me.

Do you remember their 1983 jam "Sonia"?...

"Sonia (Sonia),ever since I've known 'ya
It's been true love in my life (my life)
Sonia (Sonia),ever since I've known ya
I've had visions of you as my wife"

They never sing that song in concert,so I guess I'll have to yell it out to them...lol...

Evelyn King is hilarious in concert these days. When I saw her at a 1997 Super Oldies show, she danced up a storm, perfoming hits like "I'm In Love","Shame" and "Love Come Down".But then she "teased" the audience by only singing a few lines from kickass songs like "Betcha She Don't Love You" and "I Don't Know if It's Right" (songs that deserved to be heard in their entirety).

She also teased the fellas in the crowd. At one point, she demanded that everybody "make some noise".Then, she turned around, stuck out her butt, saying "Fellas,I don't think you heard me" smile

Then, she performed a new song that nobody had ever heard before. She seemed kinda pissed, saying "Yeah,I know...you haven't heard this one before!".She also took offense at being referred to as "old school",saying "Hey,I'm only 37,how is that considered Old School?"

Like I said, she is hilarious in concert smile
