Is this a Billboard ad?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Capitol (EMI) was a force to be reckoned with in r&b/soul from about 1979-1985. They released some true classics, many of which have never been on cd boo-hoo. Funkytowngrooves recently released all of Melba Moore's Capitol albums. Hopefully there will be more Capitol product available soon like the three first Rene & Angela albums!

I made the mistake of buying this a few years ago. They had it for sale on dustygrooves so I thought it would be okay. Boy, was I disappointed. The sound quality on some of the songs was horrendous!

Was it issued on one of thos "Vinyl Masterpiece" labels? I bought Atlantic Starr's Radiance from Dusty Groove and the sound quality on that one was horrible also.

No, it wasn't issued by Vinyl Masterpieces but it was one of those small labels that ripped from vinyl. But, in this instance, some of the tracks sounded as if they were ripped from a cassette tape or perhaps an 8-track!!! eek I can't remember which label it was but they probably went out of business after they released that bloody mess.

That's a shame. Just a way to try to cash in!
