You're solo career isn't gonna go well when you are the worst part of a Black Eyed Peas song... 2012: The Queen Returns

It's hard to believe that Will and Apl started with Eazy E. Then again Ice Cube makes family movies. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Oh cone on! You know you rather hear Taboo rapping than Fergie singing any day of the week.

I've never quite understood the hate for this band. Maybe it's because I don't have a TV at home so I can get to choose what videos to view on the internet and neither do I listen to the radio. I don't see anything wrong with wanting to make some money with your music and trying to secure that you'll have enough of it to make a living. Will.I.Am has proven that he is a good producer and he just changed the direction of his band into a more profitable one. It's a job like any other job. You'll have to make compromises on your freedom.
Besides, when I've been to clubs that play mainstream pop music I can safely say that tracks like "Let's Get It Started" are far less annoying than a lot of the shit that gets played at those places.

I for one would have loved to hear Kim Hill's take on Where Is The Love & Shut Up. I think those 2 tracks were already potential hit singles with OR without Fergie.
At the end of the day, even if (and I say "if" loosely) Kim would have stay with The BEPs for one more album, there would have been a great possibility that Kim would have either quit anyway OR would have been fired because Interscope/A&M executive Jimmy Iovine was already giving the group plenty of opportunity to be better than underground-level success within the alternative rap genre, hence why will.i.am wanted AND needed to change musical directions.
Remember, after hearing most of the tracks from the Elephunk album, it was Jimmy Iovine that successfully convince will.i.am to have Fergie (who initially wanted a solo career after leaving Wild Orchid a few years earlier) as a full-time member of The BEPs.

Nah. Not necessarily. Saying "indefinite hiatus" keeps the huge machine that eats off them from putting them on a schedule, with due dates that cost everyone money if they're missed. It also allows them to let go of a lot of the overhead that keeps the machine running. That's why bands/artists that do this seldom come back as big as they were before. Most of the people who were working to keep them that large move on and work for somebody else.
OMG! I forgot that Apps used to have the long hair. I liked them back then, and I don't hate Fergie. But I hate the kind of easy to swallow, watered down for the greatest common denominator pop they've been making for the last few years. And I ESPECIALLY hated that Fergie album. London Bridge is one of the most ridiculous songs I've ever heard.
I bet they keep working together anyway, though. On each others solo albums and such.

Some of you are BRUTAL, lol. Success is a BITCH, lol.
I was done with them by the time I was able to recognize songs by other artists that were produced by Will.I.Am, before having any knowledge of his involvement. For me, too many of Will.I.Am's productions began sounding like "I Got A Feeling", a catchy tune, but not one I was crazy about. Kinda like when Prince produces songs in the vein of The Times' "After Hi School" or his "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man"; two songs with a sound I was never crazy about.

I loved that video. There's another one that I can't remember the name of that I adored where they were dancing on a black/white set. It's driving me crazy that i can't recall it
