You kidding? Rihanna has more talent in her left toe than Sheila does in her whole body!

Sheila can't drum to save her life!

This is a joke.

To be fair, she has been doing that for at least 18 months on tour now. It's not like it's new news.

Sheila E. is the daughter of well known percussionist Pete Escovedo. Coke Escovedo is her uncle=percussionist. Tito Puente was her God Father=great salsa musician and percussionist.

Sheila E has performed with:

George Duke

Lionel Richie

Marvin Gaye

Herbie Hancock

Diana Ross

(all in her early twenties)

The lady is a legend in her own time.

Best known in this space and time for her work with Prince and Ringo Starr and Phil Collins just to name a few. Space and time does not allow me to inform you further.

While Rihanna was merely show-boating, it would seem logical that someone would at least teach her some sort of rudimentary drumming style and technique so she'd at least look convincing as a timbales performer. On the video she looks like a toddler with her first drum set. "I go boom boom mommy. cool just kidding, you know what i mean though.

Be real and informed smoothcriminal12, please don't put a great performer like Sheila e down before you know her true history and how much she's contributed to the world of music.

but it's okay hug ignorance is blessed. hug again, i forgive u nod

I think Rihanna is a good pop singer but this playing the timbales and drums is a cry out from her to convince people she's a musician. It's like she wants to be taken seriously by people that already made up their minds about who she is as a recording artist.

I like Rihanna as a pop star...she does that part well.....

She is a beautiful girl and no she has NO Rythm to speak of, besides winding a bit...

with that said as sad as this was to watch....and it was SAAAAAAAAD.....a part of me gets great gratitude to see all of these younger performers biting off of my baby Prince. It use to be that everyone bit off of MJ to no end and 99% of the time is was a complete FAIL!

I would LOVE to be that fly on the wall when Sheila and Prince viewed this little diddy.....I bet their faces were priceless. lol

Are we forgetting just a couple of months ago Prince covered rude boy?

Why do people get so up and arms about artists covering each other?

I don't know which is more baffling, the fact that people actually pay money to see this chick "perform" or the fact that she thought she could pull of faking like a drummer....Perhaps she is the embodiment of what fame in our era means----basically you are famous for being made famous not necessarily for having any disernable talent. Also, is it me or does it seem like Rihanna always looks like she's just standing around on stage and doing random stuff. I don't make it a point to watch many videos of her in concert (even my dogs whines when he hears Rihanna, seriously! LOL!) but it seems like she has this vibe like it's always her first time on stage...what a joke

I saw her in concert on Friday and said the SAME thing to my friends. I used to dance and one of the things I've noticed in her "performances" is that she appears to be "marking" her choreo and never dances full out. Granted, the bitch can't dance but still. Plus, she just walks around and poses on stage. And dont EVEN get me started on her sitting in the middle of the stage with her legs gapped open while wearing a bathing suit or panties or whatever that bullshit was. That shit was some hot mess for real. confused

Say what you want about Bey but she don't do shit half-time when on stage. She brings it full out from a performance standpoint. nod

She's nothing but a postmodernist buffon. And she knows it. That's why I dig her. She knows what she is. I have a soft spot for this kind of manipulative, cynical pop-stars. This drum solo was meant to be jokey and flashy (in other words, harmless bullshit).

This lady may be frivolous, but she ain't stupid...
