Stuff Like That (Quincy Jones' 75th Anniversary Celebration)

Are you all ready for this chaos?

Chaka Khan, Monty Alexander, Patti Austin, Petula Clark, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, Angelique Kidjo, Beverley Knight, Nils Landgren, Ledisi, James Moody, James Morrison, Nana Mouskouri, Naturally 7, Rahsaan Patterson, Freda Payne, Patrice Rushen, Joe Sample, Curtis Stigers & Larry Williams

Too many people singing loud at the same time, too many people off-beat and forgetting lyrics, Chaka vs. Beverly Knight battling vocally in an horrendous matter, Chaka and Patti Austin showing off, people thinking they know what they were doing...etc! Just a mess of a performance!

Yeah,I get tired of seeing these types of "tributes".....with too many people onstage, trying to out-sing each other lol At a certain point,it just sounds ridiculous.

Believe me, I could tolerate that performance over that scrambled egg of a mess he called an album,,,,which I HOPE will remain forgotten in my memory.

nod

Despite that, I can't forgive this performance. I hate microphone-toss finales like this. Too much. Patti Austin's dancing...disbelief

I don't get it. What's so terrible about this performance? It's better than watching Beyonce, Rhianna or any of those other youngsters who THINK they can sing all on the same stage together.

I wish I had of been there. They all looked like they were having a ball!

So is watching a cat with a yarn ball, but that doesn't make it a good performance.

I've seen far worse chaotic messes. For example:

Exactly. I'm reminded that some of the sing-alongs at the end of the early Soul Train award shows to be atrocious too. Just because you can sing don't mean you have to shout all the way like you're at a Pentecostal or Baptist church giving out a holy sermon! falloff

Nippy was an absolute, horrific mess that night. Any time Ashanti can take the stage and sound better than you, you know you're in trouble! lol
