No, because she is black.

Misquided anaology......

And have you ever heard of the actual King of Pop, the first pop-star EVER, in fact...? Louis "Satchmo" Armstong, or as his friends simply called him, "Pops."

There's no such thing as the first pop-star ever. wink Pop music is popular music. Hell, classical was the pop if its day. I could easy go and crown Tchaikovsky as the King of Pop just for the hell of it.

Just joking. lol

You should drop that "actual King of Pop" stuff anyways. It really doesn't matter at the end of the day. You try way to hard to force your opinions on others, and it really won't get us anywhere because people will always end up going back and forth.

Yes, there ABSOLUTELY is. You're forgetting a little thing called the phonograph record.

Without it, classical could not be the pop "of the day." Pop music was an extension of the invention of the phonograph record, and couldn't have existed without it.

No one except a very select few ever even heard Bach, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven play thier music. "It thier day," the only way of hearing music was either by being in the same room with musicians who could play it or being able to play it yourself. Therefore, the only way you could hear Beethoven play, was by being in the same room with him. There were also no photographs, so Beethoven wouldn't be recognized as he walked down the street.

Yes, "King" is just silly in any context. Pops was the first American pop star and the first International pop star in the history of Western civilization, with or without such titles.

If you said anything previously about "sex symbol," I missed it. Apologies.

I think the difference between the two is the worldwide impact they make.

It's not only about the US, people like MJ and Madonna have been a worldwide phenomen for 30 years. Of course, people like Beyonce go worldwide too, but i don't see the massive impact they make.

In Holland, Beyonce does AHOY (like 10.000 people), remember, in 1987 Madonna did already Feyenoord: 45.000 people per night (and she did 3 shows) and hasn't done less till this day.

Uk: Beyonce last tour at the O2: like 20.000 people? Madonna first Europeon tour: Wembley stadium: 70.000 people per concert.

People forget how huge MJ and Madonna were in the 80's, you can't compare that to people like Beyonce now. And remember this went worldwide: Asia, South America, Australia....

Nothing against Beyonce, but no, she won't be on Madonna's level.....

THIS^ is a good point. Has Beyonce ever been on an Asia tour (beside Japan)?
