I always did like that song, and that was a hell of a video too. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

This is my favorite song of hers.

I remember hearing this for the first time and thinking, "ok, she's a different kinda animal right here" lol. I also started picking up that this might be the work of that black dude with the porn star mustache and the asian dude that's in all of these videos . This song didn't get a lot of burn in the mainstream though. I slept on her first album until '02.

Love, love, love Kelis. I don't listen to much modern R & B but her stuff is usually great.
It took me a few years to get into her music. I do remember seeing promo posters for her first album and thinking "this chick is too damn weird!"

"Now I'm forced to roam this planet sadly / Lonely like some used baguette"
Love this song and that album, which I still listen to every so often. That Neptunes production style sounded fresh and interesting when it came out on albums like his, and her lyrics seemed to be a bit more genuine than the usual RnB moaners, which made me warm to her. 'Ghetto Children' is a great song too. "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

The lyrics say: "Now I'm forced to roam this planet
I looked up briget, and it says "a woman of the street" "Get up off that grey line"

^ Hmm... I'm not sure about any of these (least of all my own suggestion!).
Could it be "used bouquet"? At that exact moment in the video, I notice that the camera zooms in on a flower shop. (We pronounce the word 'boo-KAY', but do Americans say 'boo-KET'?) "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin
