A nod to Conducter arranger Vince Mendoza, who has orchestrated with everyone from Joni Mitchell to Take 6 .....I love his ability to blend Jazz , groove and orchestral timbres.... He's definitely one of the top conducter /arrangers, whether he's working with The Metropole Orchestra, London Symphony, WDR Big Band or various Jazz Superstars:

Vince Mendoza with Metropole Orchestra - "Father Time" (Yellowjackets)

Vince Mendoza , with Yellowjackets and WDR Big Band - "Azure Moon"

Vince Mendoza and Metropole Orchestra w/ Peter Erskine, Victor Bailey, and Alex Acuna - "Nubian Sundance" (Weather Report)

Vince Mendoza - Esperanca

I listened to the first three vids and WOW!!! I've never reallyu listened to an orchestra play - short of Barry White and The Love Unlimited Orchestra biggrin - so this was a pleasant surprise.

And where was that first video - "Father Time" - recorded??? I would've LOVED to experience that live. Perfect.

Three views of a classic! (cribbin' from the Jaco thing)

Hadn't heard the Clarke/Hiromi/ White trio, Nice!! And the Holdsworth album is smokin' of course!

I love the fact that they all have their own approach, and they all work nicely!!!

This is that style of Jazz that I'm still trying to comprehend biggrin . However, I did enjoy Stanley Clarke's version the best....
