One thing that I look forward to is 1 August 2011. Just so all the conspiracy theories of "see you in July 2011" will be put to bed.

Judging from what I can tell, these theories will never stop or not for a while. The Elvis Lives stuff kept happening for over 10 years after his death, and still pops up now and then! Something about Jackson and Elvis seems attract a vocal minority who are a bit out of touch with reality. [Edited 7/11/11 13:43pm]

I would include to that those who claim that 2 pac is alive or those who still claim that Paul McCartnay died in the 60s and as a proof have the picture of Paul's walking without shoes on the Abbey Road album cover. So, yeah not only some of Jacksons fans are out of touch with reality. There are fans of other artist who are even worse. lol

To be fair - this did run last week. And it's better to see him saying it in an interview than through a press release.

I think when someone dies unexpectantly people look for reasons - a bigger thing at play. It happened with Elvis, Kurt Cobain, Tupac, Diana, 9/11 and now MJ. People sometimes want to believe something else than accept a shocking truth.

I don't buy any of the conspiracy theory - and the rationale can easily be shot down.

True. And it wasn't my intention to imply that the phenomenon is limited to Elvis and Jackson groupies. My great grandfather is located right down the hall from Jackson in the Great Mauseleum in Forest Lawn, so I've gotten to see the real Wacko Jackos--people who go there every day or major holiday, bring Teddy Bears for Jackson, etc.--with me own eyes several times.

That's funny. I'm about as big of a Beatles fan as they come, and I've never heard that "theory." It doesn't make any sense. Lennon hadn't been political or even in the public eye for 5 years prior to his murder in Dec. 1980.

Oh there were heaps of books written about it following his death (and now many sites) one book in particular "Who Killed John Lennon?" is still widely sourced by them. It ranks up there with Paul is Dead and The last testament of George Harrison.

Swa is right. It's not just limited to MJ or Elvis at all. Lots of huge icons that have passed away come with their fair share of conspiracy theorists? How many Nirvana fans still believe that Courtney Love was the one that shot Kurt?

There's a lot of people in the world not too right in the head or gullible people. I mean, look what happened on May 21st of this year. Here is this man predicting the end of the world even though his first prediction was a total failure back in the 90s, but people believed it anyways. There were life savings drained. This one idiot even bought an entire billboard to advertise it. Then what happened when everyone woke up on May 22nd?

There are times that some conspiracy theories are correct though. It's just best to go in with a sane head...if possible.

TMZ changed the initial pic for this story, the original pic was a screen cap of Paris's twitter page tweeting about the incident.

sigh Although the screen cap of the so-called Twitter page of Paris, I'm not sure belongs to the real Paris. I know there are fake accounts out there and I'd heard that her real account had been made private due to harassment.

^^ That clip reminded me how much I love that part of the song and the song in general.

For me, picking up where Man In The Mirror left off, Will You Be There sees Michael pen his own gospel and choral inspired song with what are, to this point in his career, the most personal of lyrics and ones that would carry extra weight in the years that came after it. Steeped in deep harmonies that swell around him, Michael sings with a sense of honesty that both inspires and attracts. The stripped back arrangement, whilst sparse, lets the vocals truly shine and you can hear the pressures cracking in Michael’s delivery of “but I’m only human” (a fact lost on many a journalist and fan alike). The midpoint of the song is like a gentle climb up a summit, each step carried by the choir and Michael’s call and response. Each bar pushing higher and higher, and sweeping the listener up in the process until the soft landing of the final two minutes that allow Michael to speak about his life from his point of view, in words that would become strangely prophetic for the years that would unfold before him.

Do you have any MJ stuff you haven't opened?

Reading through another post I was reminded that I have a HIStory LP boxset that I have never opened.

And that got me thinking - what else haven't I opened? - and these are a few things in my collection:

Sealed Japanese pressing of Thriller on CD circa 1983.

Sealed Smile CD Single.

Dangerous deluxe edition pop up CD - (2nd copy)

Sealed VISIONARY CD/DVD Boxset -complete - (2nd copy)

Excellent question! I opened three things yesterday morning that I bought months ago but didn't want to watch. These DVD's:

Michael Jackson: The Trial and Triumph of the King of Pop (so poorly made though it's good intentions)

Michael Jackson: Devotion: An Unauthorized Tribute

Thank You For The Music: Michael Jackson: The Final Word

Though I've had Ghosts on VHS for a decade, I bought it on a disc and it's still unopened, and I haven't opened the DVD of Moonwalker or DVD of Jacksons An American Dream yet, as I have had both on VHS for years.

I bought lots of new MJ posters that were printed when he passed, but I haven't opened them up at all, plus I won a poster too from the Thriller era when a club was giving them out for an MJ dance competition. I had posters years ago but took them down when painting and wasn't sure what to do about whether to redecorate or not, so I just got them so I can still have them if I make a decision later on to put them up.

I bought MJ buttons, some opened, some unopened.

I haven't opened Visionary yet, I already have all of the videos, so I'm in no rush. Yes, I even own the rare She's Out of My Life, and they didn't even include the Victory tour version of Billie Jean which I've also owned for ages.

I have 2 copies of Michael, one is unopened. I was mad amazon didn't send it on time, so I had to go out and buy it until it came and I didn't know what to do with it, so I guess I'll just keep it as a collectible.

Allegedly Paris made those videos.

I still haven't opened Essentials either, forgot that I bought it cause I felt I didn't need it from having all the albums, but decided that I should get it for my car instead of making a mixtape. I haven't opened the Destiny reissue either, although it's possible I may have and forgot. My room is a mess right now and though my MJ collection is usually neat, right now it's not. I'm missing that Jackson 5 album with Buttercup and need to get it.

I think they're seperate songs. 3T had started writing songs when they were REALLY young (they have songs registered with the Library of Congress/US Copyright from 1988-89)
