Unfortunately I don't think it was even considered for a single release. I remember hearing rumblings about Money being a single. Whilst I feel that Money is vastly underrated by the fanbase and I personally love it (as I do every song on HIStory bar Come Together), it's no Tabloid Junkie.

As to why it was never released - I guess Sony didn't want to dwell on past scandals??

^^ Money is a fave of mine too. When HIStory was first released the sticker on the cd cover mentioned SCREAM, CHILDHOOD, MONEY and YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

I remember thinking - cool Money will be a single - alas not to be.

I don't believe it was. Those versions of Keep Your Head Up, Monster, and Breaking News were early mixes and were redone before the album was finalized

They also added accordian to Much Too Soon (which kind of ruins the calmness of the song)

Somebody got their hands on a advance copy that had those early mixes along with Love Never Felt So Good, Blue Gangster, and DYKWYCA, and that's how they got leaked (in protest of the Cascio songs being included)

I definitely agree. I hear the radio edit doesn't have so that's good. The album was really in need of a bonus disc with the original mixes.

They didn't give the tracks to Riley until September/October, they originally gave tracks to producers who never worked with Michael (Mark Ronson remixing the unreleased "Lovely Ways", the posting of the rough mix of Breaking News, the overall handling of the album....

Normally I like what Mark Ronson does - so would be interesting to hear what he does with MJ stuff.

I agree that there should have been (and hopefully future releases) a second disc of the source material - I'm more interested to hear what MJ was recording rather than what the producers ended up doing. The Way You Love Me is a classic example - the track starts with Michael describing a shuffling drum pattern and yet it's not included.

I know they won't ever please everyone, but doing a 2 disc version would go along way.

For the next album, the Estate has got to get the Will.I.Am tracks. And NO Cascio tracks. I wouldn't get wrapped up in trying to make the album flow and sound current - They couldn't get that right the first time. Just get the BEST material out there.
