You need to get a grip on reality and take this P.C. crap somewhere else. These guys were grown ass men who grow up in a different time from today. Enjoy the music and realize they were high out of their minds went they wrote most of the lyrics.

yeah, a different time: rise of the feminism movement, civil rights, free LOVE ... it sure was a backward time (uh, yeah, that's supposed to be sarcasm).

anyway, i appreciate the responses, but some folks seem to be jumping to conclusions. why didn't i critique heavy metal? um, i don't listen it. i like funk, r&b, neo-soul, some rock, some pop, some hip hop. what about the misogyny in prince's music? so, if prince does it, then it's automatically ok ... i don't agree.

finally i shouldn't listen to music that offends me? i partially agree. that was the purpose of the original post (what p-funk albums do you recommend...). that seems to have been lost in all of this. ones that i like include maggot brain, one nation under a groove (maybe the best album ever), music for your mother, most of mothership connection, what i've heard from funkentelechy vs. the placebo syndrome (i think that'll be my next purchase). on the other hand, it's also worth listening to music that i don't agree with. i'd just rather not buy/own it.

It was part of a neurotic attempt to be queen of the Universe!!

Those guys are crazy, I don't even know what he's talking about, and I don't take it seriously than I take "Hey lady won't you be my dog and I'll be your tree and you can pee on me."

But it is a little like Prince, where I think what is said at the end of the album trumps what is said at the beginning. Music is a journey, and sometimes it takes us through ugly place, hopefully toward a better place.

So take a listen to Good Thoughts Bad Thoughts, and rejoice at George's ultimate enlightenment! music

I say it was a different time because it was. Maybe to you people back then were backward (you comment not mind) What I know about Funkendelic and George Clinton it that they came out of the Plainfield and Newark projects. That George had a barbershop that he sold weed out of and had to do a lot of things to survive that people do not have to do today( you know that little thing called segregation ). What I am telling you is that those guys were from the streets, the gutter and they never sat out to be loved by the masses. They were products of their environments.Music should offend, excite and inform and you do not have to like all of the lyrics or opinions. We need less P.C crap today and more realness not cooning either.
