I'm not disputing her talent. It's just disappointing to watch her hack her face to pieces the minute she finds a wrinkle. It seems to go against a lot of what she claimed to stand for as well.

Agreed. I Loooooovvvvveee Tori. She is a musical genius and I have loved her since the very beginning but it is soooooo disappointing to see that she is so vain (and that her vanity has fucked her face up) I mean, before the facelift, even though she was older, she was still gorgeous. I really looked at her as an inspiration. That you could be older, not neccesarily perfect and still gorgeous. But now she looks crazy. And she's become obsessed with designer garb. She wrote that dumbass song "ode to my clothes" which is about her housekeeper accidentaly giving her bag of designer clothes meant for the drycleaners to charity. Starts out, "Somewhere there's a Prada bag......" Get the fuck out of here. What happened to her? eek

I think Tori's always cared about her image and has always been a bit vain. I guess the surgery might highlight that for some people, but it was always there.

I couldn't give a fuck what surgery she chooses to have, I didn't become a fan because of what her face looks like. She's still making great music and that's all that really matters.

No it doesn't sum it up. You're missing the point. What I'm saying is, that along with her vanity, she's missing the "depth" that she used to have. She used to sing about things everyday girls were dealing with, struggles people could relate to and now, along with her extreme vanity, she's singing about shit everyday people cannot relate to, like losing your Prada bag and collection of Hermes scarves. So along with this obsession on her looks (and yes, I know she's always been vain) but she's now also out of touch.

You keep harping on about one tongue in cheek b-side from years ago - as if that's the extent of the topics she covers these days. There are a lot of deeper and more human subjects she tackles on all of her albums - including the recent ones. The Beekeeper alone deals with betrayal (Parasol), infidelity (Jamaica Inn, Hoochie Woman), the death of her brother (Toast), her mothers illness (the title song), the joy of motherhood (Ribbons Undone), the suppression of sexuality by the Catholic church (Original Sin)... and all you hear is prada bags and gucci lace?? Selective memory much?

Um, no. Maybe YOU can't relate to it, but saying "people" cannot relate to it is simply not true. She continues to sing about things that everyday women (and men) are going through. Two of the most powerful songs from the last album were "Curtain Call", which deals with a woman being chewed up and spit out by the music industry (and could be transferred to any industry, for that matter) and "Maybe California" which deals with a woman struggling to make ends meet for her family, and contemplating suicide.

Your opinion does not equate to fact.

If you think that her recent output is summed up by singing about "losing your Prada bag and collection of Hermes scarves" then you are betraying your ignorance about her recent output.

The work of her earlier years like Earthquakes, Choirgirl, Pele, etc. came from a certain place that she was at the time and Tori reflected that in her art. She is in a different place now, and has been for quite some time. For her to still be rehashing the same turmoil from the woman she was 20 years ago and not moving on and growing would be pretty pathetic, but that's what some people seem to want from her.

The fact is that her most recent output is every bit as powerful as her earlier work, only different. If it doesn't speak to you, then fine. Tori's doing just fine; every one of her regular studio albums has had a Top 10 debut, she continues to tour successfully, and is making the music she wants to make. That's the reality.

Don't like it? Go back and listen to "Cornflake Girl" and be content.

I'm aghast!

She can do whatever she wants with her face (and she has) and her perspective

does not lend itself to each and every single one of her fans; beauty is in the

eyes of the beholder; looks has nothing to do with her music...

But cot damn!

I never even liked Cornflake girl, Your the one who's ignorant and I suppose also out of touch. I know I am not the only Tori Amos fan who feels this way. I have many friends who were Toriphiles who've stopped going to her concerts and buying her albums because she's "lost it". Gimme a break, her writing about a woman not being able to make ends meet and contemplating suicide is about as foreign to her as having to go on fucking food stamps. Puh-lease. I so tired of this, "i'm so deep and can relate"- bullshit. Her writing "maybe california" is like when that dumbass woman Plumb wrote such a "deep" song about cutting and the kids who were actually "cutters" called her on it, like, "Were you actually even a cutter?" of course she wasn't she was just channeling her inner- deep. Give me a fucking break.

That may be more in the particular pic I chose, than in general. She is MUCH creamier than Moore. The is the last time I go off topic in this thread:
