But you can find a lot of footage of them promoting The Jacksons, Goin' Places, Destiny, and Michael promoting Off The Wall, but nothing on Triumph. It seems like they didn't do any TV appearances for the album. We know Michael didn't lol

Unless they went on Soul Train, American Bandstand, Hee Haw, or Solid Gold, there wasnt a lot of places for any music group to appear on television in 1980. Remember there was only 3 networks + PBS and a couple of local UHF channels, and the stations went off the air at 11PM or midnight. Midnight Special might have still been on, and I think Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters show was on. Radio was where most acts did promotion. They would talk to radio DJ's in different cities. Some appeared on local TV programs.

BET was out at that time (as was MTV, but we know ...) Maybe they did some stuff on BET at that time.

Very few people had cable in 1980, so no one would have went there. lol I thought MTV came out in 1981 anyway, and then it wasn't in many areas at first (and neither was cable itself).

It's an OK album but not the JACKSONS strongest - that has to be awarded to Triumph.

Funny thing for me - when I bought the album - I put on the side that lead off with State of Shock (being it was the first single I assumed it would lead off the album)

Thus for me for years Victory played like this...

State of Shock

We Can Change The World

The Hurt

Body

Tortue

Wait

One More Chance

Be Not Always

It wasn't until I bought the album on CD a year later in 85 that I realised the song order was wrong.

To this day I still prefer the album starting with SOS and ending with BNA.

But with Destiny, they appeared on American Bandstand, Soul Train, Midnight Special and 20/20 in US

They went to the UK and appeared on Top Of The Pops 3 times, , the Silver Jubilee, BBC aired the Rainbow Theatre concert, and appeared on Abba's Christmas special

then went to Germany and appeared on a couple of shows there

But with Triumph, it was like they simply let the singles do the work

Oh Heck yes

p.s. I still can't believe Victory is the Jacksons Best selling album with 8 million copies sold (i know maybe due to thriller mania) but I think destiny or Triumph derserve that title ,

LBC,

Why you always trying to make everyone appreciate that album? lol Sorry but "Victory" is their worst album ever. Hands down!

I only appreciate a few things about this album and they are:

-One More Chance (Thank you Randy! Best song on the album for me)

-State of Shock

-Torture (And I still feel this song is just okay, kinda cheesy)

-The Hurt

Everything else is awful. I'd much rather appreciate The Jacksons forgotten albums. Their first self titled album and "Goin' Places" for instance are so much better than "Victory" yet hardly ever get any recognition. I wish those albums weren't so underrated. There are some real gems on those albums and Mike's voice is just outstanding during that period. Really soulful and smooth. Love it.

"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

I kinda side with LBC. It's certainly not an epic(no pun intended)Jacksons album but it's

not total garbage like some are saying. lol

Hell it was radio that actually turned me on to buying the album. The dj on my local

radio station was playing songs from the album before it was released. I won't front

i dig State of Shock and Torture. Also like Wait, Body, One More Chance, and We Can

Change the World. On a scale of 1 to 10, i would give the album a 7.

Epic Records began deliveries yesterday of better than two million copies of The Jacksons' new "Victory" album, to fill orders already placed by record stores. Ron McCarrell, one of the Epic executives caught up in Jackson fever, heralded this first-day shipping as "the largest in the history of CBS Records and perhaps the entire music industry" and confidently predicted to ''see reorders...

JACKSONS SHARE TOUR PLANNING

Pay-Per-View - Boston Globe - ProQuest Archiver - Apr 28, 1984
The Jacksons are also completing their next album, "Victory." Almost all of the songs are done, though only nine cuts are expected to appear on the album. ...
I wonder what track got left off at the last minute

You won't believe what I bought today!

I FINALLY have the video version of the Torture single on LP!!!! I love that intro!

And I found the Body single on LP, it has an instrumental version and an extended version! I can't wait to play them!

I had the Torture 45 already for years with the instrumental being on the opposite side of the original.

We have so many vintage music stores here and I always get lucky when it comes to Jackson hunting.

Now for my collection to feel complete, I need to own

The Who Is It single that doesn't have the Oprah mix and Beat It mix. I know someone who has it, but I don't want something burned or mp3's, and I thought I ordered it online but got the other one, which I already had burned, but I guess it's nice I have an original now.

Another friend of mine who's a huge fan has had the HIStory single since the 90's and I remember him showing me, like maybe before BOTDF came out in fact, and I didn't collect singles yet.

Heal The World, though I'll have to double check if I own the instrumental...I have seen the 45 when hunting but didn't bother getting it, cause the other side just had an album track. I don't bother with those type of singles though I found DSTYGE in the basement with I can't help it on the B side and got excited years ago!

I nearly scored having the This Time Around on record when I found it years ago, but it was gone when I went back to buy it sad I'll bet it would have been worth a lot today too

I don't see a point in owning the Ghosts single much since all the tracks have been commercially released after that, like with On the Line being on the Ultimate Collection though I know there were slight changes

And I need the Jackson 5 CD with Buttercup included, I was too mad to buy it when it was released sad I spent like crazy when he passed on all the things, but not on that, I couldn't handle young Michael then.

My Janet collection, singles and all kicks ass too. You would think I was collecting since then or something, but I try to be reasonable too not to duplicate things at times. Like one time I found Whoops Now, but I didn't buy it cause I already owned the tracks though I loved the cover.

lol Hella homoerotic! Why is Randy wearing ballet slippers? Why does Mike have his foot on Randy's leg? Why does Jackie, (with his fine self), have his knee between Mike's leg? Howcome back in the 80's no one ever thought Marlon was gay? looking back at the photos from the time, Marlon seems really gay. But no matter what, you could never take away Tito's old uncle swag.
