Most of the hip hop that charts is not real hip hop anymore.
It's popmusic with a rapper droppin a rhyme on wack beats.

The essence of real hip hop is nowhere to be found on these songs.
Dope beats and dope rhymes have turned into catchy tunes.

Nowadays there seems to be a new "best rapper ever" every month, because some young people are blown away by someone that came up with a clever way of saying things and have a funny way to dance to it.

Drake isnt bad but hes gotten worse ever since he joined Young Money, a label full of pop rappers with terrible rhyming and lyrics that are plain stupid. Eminem is an example of a rapper better than Drake, even though his new work is barely average compared to his first 3 albums. Lupe Fiasco, Jay Z and Tech n9ne are other examples of rappers with much more skill and trust me when I say there is no end to these.

I agree that Drake is the best rapper right NOW. Kanye is a better producer. I like NAS and JAY-Z, how the flow....but they aint talking about shit. Besides most of Jay-z's hits were written and produced by Kanye. It's not that Drake is talking about serious issues...but at least he brought back story telling back to Hip Hop. At least he has an extensive vocabulary and it creative with his rhymes. Not all of his songs are hits either but who else is out there. Rakim is one of the greatest of all time but his time to shine is over. Drake is better rapper than Biggie smalls. Drake can't be compared to the greatest of all time but he is the best right now in his young career. at least he writes his own shit.
