MC HAMMER--PUMPS AND A BUMP "Get up off that grey line"

Wasn't he just "Hammer" at this point? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Oh yes!
Hammer had nice digs didn't he LOL. (and no thats not a metaphor for youknowwhat LOL)
I dig the call and response on the bridge by the guys and girls. You know the bridge.......
"Allllllllllll that we waaaaaaaaaaaaaant is a man who is right, who can hit it all night".
And I always dig Aaron Halls bit at the end too.

This video is so embarrassing for Hammer it was a poor attempt to make this song sound like 'Rumpshaker' I wonder if he had a bikini wax before he put on that speedo.

One of the best music videos ever! Andy is a four letter word.

I hear ya. It should have been a thin plain white speedo without the distracting stripes and the speedo should have been wet. Andy is a four letter word.

That's the only turnoff about the video. No, he didn't wax, which would have been equally as horrible, but he did shave in the creases of his legs. I know because I have the video on a DVD-R and I have zoomed in as close as possible and can see razor bumps. Andy is a four letter word.

Pumps was produced by Teddy Riley, who also produced Rumpshaker. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

All I remember was his junk that kept moving in that swimsuit.
I was slightly disturbed...

Just watched it, but can't remember if there was actually a song. All I remember was a Speedo

He dropped the "MC" part of his stage name for the 2 Legit 2 Quit album. But the single, Pumps And A Bump, was on The Funky Headhunter album.

Hammer has 2 different videos for this song. He has thugged out clothes on in the other (more family safe!) video.

i always thought this song was about 2mins too long. thats allot of bump. RIP 1958-2016 Prince RIP 1947-2016 David Bowie

"Pumps" was his attempt at G-Funk, which is not what "Rumpshaker" is. I think the other version of the video confirms this moreso. It was just a greater attempt by Hammer to try to gain back some street credibility.
It failed. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Actually Rump Shaker was a Pharrell Williams track. Teddy took the credit.
Pumps And A Bump is a sick track.

That was a hot track but I think the original video destroyed its potential. He tried to get away from his earlier clean-cut image but this wasn't the way to go.

That doesn't surprise me, though the credits officially do credit him, along with about a dozen other people (which I presume includes the songs "Rumpshaker" sampled from). I read somewhere he wrote a verse and according to the booklet, he got credit.

From when Hammer tried to get gansta.
I actually liked a few songs on that release, though. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day
