300,000 copies/units is not enough for the album to go gold. Beyonce still has 200,000+ to go. |

I don't hear "hits" on this album. Maybe that's why i like it so much, but when you hear which kind of music is popular today, it's gonna be a hard job to find a single that does well. Maybe "Party" or "I care".
I'm surprised that "Party" is not getting spins. I know a lot of people that can't get enough of this track.
Believe it or not since the album leaked, all of her songs have for one or another have been getting played on some stations. But Party isn't a single and the same as I Care. Best Thing I never had is the single now and have been for a while and it is actually getting pretty good airplay compared to RTW. |

her music is too hard, and that song Run the world, not only was the beat something you couldn't dance to, you had her vocals that were very harsh, brash and loud. I don't people in general like that kind of singing paired with that kind of music. Its like the vocals didn't go with the song
Huh. I don't find "Run the World" to be undanceable. I get down to it just fine. It's s'posed 2b harsh. It's an aggressive, feminist Funk anthem. To each his/her own tho. I WAS hopin' that the album would have MORE of that "funk" sound, but it doesn't. The first time I heard the single/saw the vid, I was elated! Who run this mutha...??? Who run this mutha...??? LOVE it!
Great post. And the harmonies on it are outstanding. Fits the vibe of what the song is about. |

I speak the truth. And I find it a total disgrace that in 2011, selling only 300,000 is consider a major success.
Forget about the 80's & 90's, the music industry of the 1970's have better standards than this. An artist had to go gold (500,000 units) to be consider a success. |

Did Janet and Michael not sell something just above it in most of their first weeks since the soundscan era began? That is a good number. I know I've been critical of Beyonce this time despite liking her, but the numbers are good, we'll see how low they go next week, then we can talk. And now I can't stop playing Love On Top. Excuse you, but Michael has NEVER sold worst than 9 million copies of an original studio album since the beginning of the soundscan era. |

The whole song is heavily harmonically based. Unless you're trying to be funny by this comment. |

I mean I can remember to hum "Girls...Run The World" in a chant..but the rest of it is too off balance to keep in tune. If I was to try and harmonize with the rest of it without singing the actual wordswords....I am not sure many people would recognize the song..and it doesnt sound good to the ear that way either. Well, the song don't really have a melody. Rhythmic based, polyrhythmic actually with her vocal being "anthemic chanting". But her vocals are very harmony based also. In fact, listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/wa...Atm3NBP-Vk
This the vocals without the instrumentals. RTW has LOTS of harmonies as most Bey songs does. |

Mrs. Shawn Carter, professionally known as Beyonce Knowles, released her fourth studio album, ‘4′, last week. Moving 310,000 units, the LP was the superstar’s fourth consecutive No. 1 album, and, in a twist of fate, her lowest selling debut on the Billboard 200. Never one to be counted out so soon, the ‘Run The World (Girls)’ singer is set for a second week atop the chart.
Check below for details…
The most notable release this week comes from R&B singer Lloyd. According to industry forecasters, the ‘Cupid’ singer’s fourth album ‘King of Hearts’ is set to sell around 20,000 copies this week, which would garner the set a debut somewhere in the top 15. |
