Roberta & Donny - You Are My Heaven This classic cut has been in constant rotation all day today. It's a shame it was one of the last cuts Donny would ever grace his vocals on and he and Roberta would sing together. Produced by the incomparable Stevie Wonder.

I just love "Back Together Again", "You Are My Heaven" and "Don't Make Me Wait Too Long" from that album. I gonna swipe it up and check out the entire album. Never heard the 10-minute version of "Back Together Again" either. I know it's jumpin'! Check me out and add me on:

During the 1980's, some of the local stations would play the long versions and remixes of songs. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

According to Roberta Flack, Stevie flew her to California and offered her up to five songs for this album. It was supposed to be another duets album. Stevie is actually singing background on " You Are My Heaven", uncredited of course. The other song from Stevie was " Don't Make Me Wait Too Long", a disco influenced Stevie Jam. The album cover is one of my lasting images Of Donny Hathaway, a deep ,soulful immortal genius genius. Roberta Flack's essay on the back cover concludes with "Donny Hathaway Lives". Amen!

Anyone know why Roberta won't release the other tracks with Donny on them?

You know what, I don't even think they finished the work they were supposed to do on that album. Sure, there are probably songs with Donny and Roberta deep in the vault, but for the Roberta Flack Featuring Donny Hathaway project, it's tremendously unfinished as to what it was supposed to be due to Donny's untimely death.
I heard that there were gonna be some rare Roberta & Donny cuts on the never-released, Donny Hathaway Anthology, that was supposed to come out in 2002...but it never surfaced completely. Check me out and add me on:
