Bjork Biophilia - live at MIF preview night 27/06 I was fortunate enought to go the preview/premiere night of Biophilia at the Manchester International Festival on Monday. I'm not a massive Bjork fan to be honest but respect her as an artist and like a fair bit of her stuff. I went along intrigued and with an open mind.
So, how was it? It was pretty damn good. All new material from the new album/project (as expected and stated in the literature/promo) with 4 'well known' tracks in the set. The 30 piece choir she had with her was amazing and worked very well on the new (and old) material. The encore was particularly memorable and ended on a real high with the audience buzzing.
Good venue, 1500 capacity, great sound, an in the round show and an accomplished performance by all - though you could tell at times, and by their own admission, they were a bit nervous/unsure of stage placements/movement. But, it was a 'dress rehearsal' after all and to be fair it didn't matter or detract from the night at all. Bjork was in fine voice and her outfit/look, as you might expect, was quirky and unique.
I know that there are more than a few orgers who are big Bjork fans and some of you will be going to the shows in Manchester, and beyond when it tours elsewhere in the world - you'll all really enjoy it I'm sure. Especially if you're a big fan. Like I say, I'm not a big fan, but, I was impressed and very pleased I went.
Have fun and enjoy it if you're going to any of the shows in Manchester, or elsewhere in the not too distant future! these are the days of wild........ | |
