Kreayshawn... uhhh... hmmm.
I checked out her, uhh, music... after reading that she'll be directing the new Red Hot Chili Peppers video. I like the club vibe of the music at the end of the second video, otherwise... uhh... well... decide for yourselves...
At least she reps the East Bay... but now that I think about it, maybe that's not a good thing.

Shit. I really should have searched before I created a thread. I searched after, and now I'm bummed out. I hate stupid people.

This girl is a mess. What kind of name is Kreyshawn? Is she making fun of "black" names? "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

Kreayshawn is the shit! She's so effin' cool it's crazy. I rather listen to here than Nicki Minaj.
She keeps it so fucking real. If you like Tyler The Creator or Odd Future, you will like her.

My personal opinion would be no, based on the little I read about her today. But I really don't know much about her, so that's just my opinion.

Ummm. No.

They basically make the same music...

Uhhh, no. I could post a shit ton of Odd Future videos and none of them sound like the two I posted above.

I love Kreayshawn. Both "Gucci Gucci" and "Bumpin Bumpin" are the JAMS!
I also discovered a good dubstep remix of the former. I was blasting it on loop, and I don't even really like dubstep! Here's the link - http://soundcloud.com/kth...ucci-gucci
TylerHippie is right, if you dig OFWGKTA you will probably dig Kreayshawn and White Girl Mob
Anyway, she's directing the new RHCP video? That's dope!

And again I disagree. They are nothing alike.

As many people on the Tubes have pointed out, she's very much a female version of Lil' B. But the small amount of material I've heard from her doesn't compare to Odd Future in the slightest. Different rhyming style, different lyrical conent, different production. Just not the same.

This is in the same vine as "Gucci Gucci".

Lil B, Odd Future, and Kreayshawn are all marketing cornball imagery over substance.
I feel bad for true westcoast artists who aren't getting nearly as much attention as these lames.
These gimmicks have grown tiresome.
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

BULLSHIT. | |

How is that bullshit? I like Tyler and OF... and I like Kreayshawn.
They aren't making IDENTICAL music, but if you are into the new young west coast scene, then you'll dig OFWGKTA, you'll dig Kreayshawn, you'll dig Lil B.... etc
I think that's what TylerHippie meant. Most people I know who digg OFWGKTA, dig Kreayshawn also. |

The same can be said of nearly every rapper from the last two decades. What I enjoy about these new kids from Oakland is that they at least have a sense of humor instead of scowling and pretending to be gangsters every time a camera turns up. And they're pretty good about not just filling out unfinished songs with reptitive “yeah” “uh-huh” “roc-a-fella” bullshit. The downside is that I still can't tell the difference between their videos and comic parodies of rap videos. But that seems to be the point.

And I still disagree completely. Even though I think they're getting too much hype too soon, I dig what Odd Future is doing. There production is on point, often not containing samples (The Jet Age Of Tomorrow instumental albums are actually pretty damn interesting). Their lyrical content, minus the unnecessary shock value use of fag and rape, is on some completely different shit. Frank Ocean is making some great R&B. Tyler and Mellowhype are almost horror rap. They aren't about the same shit that Lil B and Kreayshawn are doing at all. Just because two songs might have a slightly similar boom bap beat doesn't mean they're the same, or alike.

I think you're missing the point.
Nobody said they're making identical music, but I still think that the large majority of OF fans would dig Kreayshawn too. They fit within a similar category, not necessarily musically but stylistically and you simply can't deny that there is a huge contingecy of the same people digging both of them.
It's like, Nirvana didn't sing about the same topics as Pearl Jam, yet because they were "loosely" part of the same scene, one could say that if you like Nirvana, you'll probably dig Pearl Jam and vice versa. You can sit and nitpick about how their music is different but the point still remains true, at least from my perspective.
