What's your favorite year(s) in music

Just curious what different people see as the best year or years in music. I take 81-83. Any period that yelds Controversy, 1999, both Time albums and Vanity 6 is enough to be great right there. Add to that the fact that Rick James (Street Songs & Throw Down) Patrice Rushen (Straight From the Heart) Gap Band (IV) The Bar Kays (Propositions & Night Crusin) Grandmaster Flash (The Message) Cameo (3 albums!) Midnight Starr (No Parking..) and Confunkshun (7 & To The Max) were all at their peak and you have the period I feel defines old school. I'm sure I left some out. Add yours to this period or select your own best of from your favorite years.

personally i always like 87-88...

I was a senior in college ... in Europa ... having a great time travelin and partyin ...

listenin to tunes ...

"sign of the times" ... later - "the black album" ... and then "Lovesaxayyy" ...

I remember that "wendy and lisa" ... and Prince ... had the #1 and #2 albums in germany at that time ...

just my 2 cents ...

I like 1993 for these:

Kate Bush - The Red Shoes
Terence Trent D'Arby - Symphony Or Damn
Bee Gees - Size Isn't Everything
David Bowie - Black Tie White Noise
A-ha - Memorial Beach
Bjork - Debut
Radiohead - Pablo Honey

I still love all these albums so it was a good year for me.

I was looking for an example of the songs and or albums that made those years great to you. Some people are just listing years. Tell us why those years were so great. It helps paint a picture of the time period.

The 30's and early 40's is very under-rated. Truthfully that may be the golden age of black music.
