LOVE Cameo to death, wasn't too excited about this particular song or album. "Flirt" was probably my favorite song from this 1982 release. And I never knew until recently that the girl on the cover of this album is VANITY.

It seems that this was a common occurence back then Remember Prince's "Uptown" and "Dirty Mind" videos? Evelyn Champagne King's "Love Come Down" and "Betcha She Don't Love You" videos? I guess it was cheaper to do it this way

'Word Up' is cool,but I like the 'Alligator Woman' era They toured with Rick James and One Way during this era.I wish I had gone to one of those shows!

1982 was when Cameo added new wave ideas to their synth-driven funk and still remain BET-bound.

That would have been fantastic to have seen Rick James and Cameo on the same ticket!

I first saw Cameo in concert in 1979, then again in 1986, but then didn't see them again until 1998, when they headlined at the Apollo Theatre in NYC with Zapp & Roger and Evelyn "Champagne" King (just 5 months before Roger was murdered). Then, while album sales certainly don't mean that much to me, casting their only Platinum certified album "Word Up!" aside, I always felt like 1986 was the year that all the elements came together for Cameo: their look (Larry's high-top fade, black spandex with red codpiece), their choreography with Debbie Allen, and the final of three #1 hits ("Word Up!") on the R&B charts (along with 1980's "Cameosis" and 1984's "She's Strange").

The 1982 "Alligator Woman" era always felt to me more like a time when Cameo was searching for their new direction, which culminated four years later. Not a bad time to be a Cameo fan at all, and I certainly respect that it was your favorite period in Cameo's history.

It was this album, IMO, when Charlie's contributions, style & energy really began to show prominently in the band's sound.

Love the album from start to finish (except "Secrets Of Time"....ugh).

"Alligator Woman" was a MONSTER in their stage show around that time, too....200% kinetic.

Why would someone try to get on BET? In the beginning, it was infomercials most of the day. The BET programming came on in the evening.

All the Prince videos from "1999" ("1999", "Little Red Corvette", "Let's Pretend We're Married", and "Automatic") were shot on the same stage and it looks like at the same time. I think it was a way to save money in the early 80s.

Videos for "Controversy" and "Sexuality" were done the same way, too.

Out of sincere respect for your opinion, BK...I did go back Re-spin this track (on it's own and as an "outro" to Alligator. I do like some of their "sketchier" stuff (like say, "Le Toi") BUT>>>>

I don't blame you! I wish I were nearby so you could spin some of your favorite vinyl for me. I'm sure you have some gems that can't be found on CD anywhere. I also have no doubt you could come up with a few tunes that I've NEVER heard. Enjoy man!

That's the cool thing about vinyl...some of this stuff never even made it to CD.I can listen to rare records that I would never find on CD.And since this is a USB turntable I can digitalize all this music to my computer,iPod and CDs.

ass turntable i bought in 1986 but it sounds good mainly because of my speakers. I also

agree that Cameo was at the top of their game during the Knights of The Sound Table

and Alligator Woman period.

I've got Stanton turntables also. I've had two of these since the year 2001....

If you ever notice, most people with a turntable without pitch control always complain that the record sounds a little faster than the CD. Well, turn that pitch control down to minus 2 and it is the exact same tempo as a CD.
