I'm 19, and this generation is fucking insane. These people are playing the same fucking songs over and over! "Miguel "Sure Thing", that annoying ass Kirt Franklin song, "Far Away" etc...

There needs to be more people like Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, who actually has talent.

I don't even know what to say anymore...

I fucking hate seeing a rap artist or any artist hold a instrument knowing damn well they can't play the fucking instrument.(T-Pain & Chris Brown "Best Love Song" video, Jay-Z etc...)

Also, I get fucking tired of hearing how some "artist" from this decade, channeled another artist from the 60's 70's or 80's, why the fuck do you need to channel someone? Be original, or at least try.

Start listening to the underground! Plenty of choices...Find what type of music you like and ..look for it. It is what we have to do these days...or stick around here, sometimes people know some really good shit (like Dam Funk, Lugo, Sam Sparro, Confection, Bjork ) that will not get play on the radio! Stick around.

That's what I used to do in the 1990s when shit hop took over. I listened to strictly the underground gay house music scene and I partied all night long in a club full of gay people while the above ground straight world was asleep.

However, it's different now. There is no underground gay black scene. It's shit hop and mainstream. There is an underground gay white scene these days but it's that shitty trance music that sounds horrible. If I were to find some underground music that I like these days, I would be listening to it alone and that's no fun. There's nothing like partying with a large group of people and having fun instead of finding something good, listening to it alone, and feeling like you're alone on a desert island because no one else is listening to it. It feels like the rest of the world died and you're the only one that survived and that's a very lonely feeling.

Good music has always been something played in a social setting where people gather, meet new people, and have fun. Nowadays, good music is something to listen to alone and that's ass backwards from the way it used to be.

Music wouldn't have to be dead. It's just that people have become complacent, and lost their inherent soul in the process. As soon as we can figure out how to feed the real musicians and artists again - we can get back on track. IMO opinion the real problem here is greed.

I agree...if it is not an old school party going on at the clubs here..like when they throw Prince related Funk Dj parties or concerts here in Mpls, most likely I wont be dancing too much.

At the Gay 90's downtown here the r&b dancefloor used to be PACKED just 11 years ago, but now like you said...the dancefloor is empty on the hip hop side, its medium on the trance side...but upstairs in the 80's and 90's only room....packed on a Saturday night. nod

See your problems with music is that the good music is being ignored for the bullshit, adding to less people wanting to party at the clubs.

It is .....sad partying alone to the good underground jams I gotta admit... cry wish I would take Dj-ing more professionally, but nobody going top pay me to play some underground funk.

He does have his talent...I give him and people like Janelle credit for being unique in their field. Hey stick to listening people like that of your generation...just because there is not enough of them does not mean they do not exsist. Look for them. The only way to revolutionize a movement is by not following what mainstreet society is doing. Part of why people are not buying music anymore is BECAUSE of the lack of real artists out there.

Just to be clear, I support underground music etc...I do not listen to any mainstream artist besides the ones I named. I like stuff like psychodelic-rock,Folk music, 90's Hip-Hop, 60's, 70's and 80's music. I like stuff that makes you feel like your on some kind of drug, you know?

So to all the folks that said I don't look for music, when it comes to music, I'm like a bounty hunter. smile I have over 4,000 songs on my computer.

Yeah this X1000.

According to some on this very board, Lil' Wayne is way more talented than Pavarotti for the simple fact that Lil' Wayne can play a guitar.

And I've read people around here say that MJ has no talent because he never played insturments live. There is just no logic when it comes to music.

Not necessarily. A person might play 10 instruments, but that doesn't mean they can play them well. Also someone might play well technically, but make music that is not interesting to listen to. Like Yngwie Malmsteen which is more like showing off. razz

Bruno Mars plays four instruments, at a above average level.to me, he as talent.
