Beyoncé 4: Discussion

It's officially out now! At least in some parts of the world...

Since Run the World(Girls) was chosen as the first single and all the negative feedback that has been floating around I have not had any high hopes for this project at all.

BUT

That was then. This is now. And now means...

I LOOOVE 4!

To each it's own, but for me this is Beyoncé's best album since Dangerously In Love. It's definitely catering more towards an older, more mature audience and might not have much teen-appeal. Personally I prefer this Beyoncé and I am happy she took this direction. It's mellow, laid back, contemplative and fun. My personal favorite at the moment is Love On Top. I can't help but adore this old school happy-maker! music

Hated the shitty ass single but since everyone is saying that the rest of the album is totally different, I think I will like it if I ever get my hands on it lol

I'm still waiting for album's official release. She's released 2? or 3 singles and they flopped or something? ehh I personally won't care if the whole album flops or not...If it's mellow, laid back, contemplative and fun...I'll prolly like it a lot!

Right, flop or not, I'm digging it and that's what matters. If you later don't feel the same way, feel free to throw a brick at me nod

I see that her label is afraid the album will flop because it doesn't have the hits her audience is used to. And that is indeed true. That is exactly why this album is better than what's usually coming from her. I'm glad she decided to stick to her own vision. It's very likely 4 will flop and be dissed by the kids. Money wise it's a matter for concern. Music wise it's not...

I said it already before, but it's a great album. I'm not much into Beyonce's music, liked some songs, but this one is on non-stop playing for the last 2 weeks in my place.

good melodies, great vocals....i'm loving it!

So when are we gonna star seeing some promo? Her album is out in less than a week and if the label is so terrified of bad saled you'd think we'd be seeing her all over the place. I love Best Thing and I'd love to see her perform it live soon.

Maybe they've already given up on it and are just gonna let it fly by... Would hate to see that though. Beyoncé is surely gonna sing some of the tunes though.

Didn't buy the album but already listened to the whole thing. It's a good departure from the sounds of her last two albums. I like Dangerously In Love for the R'n'B feel so for the songs I like on 4 I really like.

I abused the repeat button on Party..I love it.

I Miss You

Love on Top

End Of Time...love the African feel...with the right choreography the video could be great.

Rather Die Young

Those are also my favs....1 + 1 is nice to...I liked it even better when I heard Q Parker from 112 cover it.

I like Schoolin' Life to...that's supposed to be on the deluxe album.

5 songs I really dig out of 12...don't know if that's enough to make me wanna buy the album...we'll see.

Identity

I would've gotten more enjoyment out of the tracks if they were all insturmentals. Alas, her over-singing simply grates on me now. I lost interest in this album almost as quickly as I did I am...Sasha Fierce.

Well I kinda get what you are saying....I love the layered effect on songs like I Miss You, Party and the aggression in End Of Time but while I love songs like Love On Top... towards the end I feel she over sings and I hear a strain in her voice that I don't particularly like.

That's my only problem with her too. I kind of like it, but sometimes she def oversings. It fits the mood on I Care, but sometimes you just wanna tell her not to shout. I Miss You is unusually laid back and "quiet" for her.

if beyonce only knew the word subtle.

I think the album would be better and more enjoyable if she wasn't over singing.

Im still trying to figure out how traveling to egypt and the world inspired your music, when you music sounds like 80s or 90s inspired and she is about the same thing she always been singing lol

That's what I love about it. It reminds me of Phil Collin's "In The Air Tonight".

Subtle songs like TotalAlisa suggests really suit her because you get to hear her tone...she does do them sometimes and those remain my favs from her...Me Myself and I is right at the top and this other one she did with Bilal "Everything I do"...Just beautiful songs.

Of course she can't do all subtle songs..she needs the up-tempo tracks she's known for but yes I too want to tell her not to shout.
