Alexander O'neal/Cherrelle Unsung episode

I just finished watching Alexander O'neal/ Cherrelle Unsung. Very interesting! It touched on Prince kicking him out of the new formed The Time group before it started & Alexander O'neal's heavy cocaine problem that ultimately ruined his chances of becoming a superstar. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis wouldn't work with him unless he went into rehab. He managed to barely get three produced albums from them. Its sad he had one of the most soulful voices. But let his ego & drug problem get in the way. He is still pretty big overseas though.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

In case you guys missed it (or don't have TV-One), you can watch it online here.

When I was watching it, I was kind of floored at how much Alex didn't care for Prince. That was something else.

I was also pissed at TV-One for having wrong info (again). It's just sad that these folks can't do proper research. It's just sad.

lol Man, much like our hero Alex's ego is about as legendary as his voice is 4 those in the know. When u got 2 personalites as dominant as those two cats, shit is bound to blow up and have a story 2 tell about it.

I honestly only can remember two songs from Alex...

The one he did with Cherrelle "Saturday Love" and that song that had a beat very similar to Dance Electric. It was called "Fake".

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer. rose

I think he moreso meant that Prince can get blend in a little more because of his complexion, whereas he is unmistakably black because he is brown-skinned. I took it to mean that he was jealous of Prince's ability to blend in.

more jealous of Prince's cross-over appeal and his seeming to be accepted by white people.

Watch the Remixed version of this episode on TVOne's website. When Alexander makes the comment, a graphic pops up on the screen making mention to Prince's white mother in Purple Rain. Interesting...

Plenty of white people seem to embrace Alexander's music in Europe, though. He says he was accepted more there than in the US (you know, drug addiction withstanding).
