On the flipside, Miki Howard looked cool as a cat in her hat.
Miki was pretty chill and less hyper here, than her own special from last season. I thought that she was still using that crack during her special, but she seemed normal here and she looked great as well, as always!

O'neal still seems bitter about Prince kicking him out. But it worked out better for him in the end. Still that was a nasty comment to make about Prince. When Prince has remained still very successful to this day. I always knew he was on drugs. He was always sweating like Whitney Houston when he would perform, without doing that much.
JJ&TL always keep it real in any interview they give. They never seem intimidated by anyone. O'neal had one of the most soulful voices, he could have been huge. I never really felt that Cherrelle was that good of a singer & still don't. She had a good look & image though. But without JJ&TL like she said she was nothing. O'neal could have made it without them. But sadly drugs took over... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

I remember reading a review for Cherrelle's 1988 album, Affair and it was clear that Cherrelle, just like Janet, was a "producer's singer." Without talented and established producers on their side, they wouldn't be where they are today. Check me out and add me on:

But I honestly don't even believe that. How can you get fired for being "too black"? Doesn't make sense, all of the band members of "The Time" were NOT light skinned so that reason is just a bullshit excuse for what really happened which is what Jimmy and Terry said, Alex came in there demanding shit like he was hot shit or something and he got shot down. Now the real question is this, why the fuck is Alex bitter towards Prince for getting kicked out the group when it was really Morris who made the damn phone call??? See what I mean.
I just don't get why he's still so bitter, I mean wasn't this a blessing in disguise? Your ass ended up having some type of successful career at one point after that so why still act like your feeling still hurt over it? Besides that, when Alex finally achieved the success he so craved he couldn't even handle it.
Overall I thought the episode was just hilarious. Between Cherrelle's annoying ass voice and her dramatic version of how everything went down and Alex's bitch fest, they both had me rolling. Alex was sitting up there looking like a burnt piece of toast at some point and at other times looking like Otis the trashman trying to paint himself out to be a victim. Funny how he doesn't own up to the mistakes he's made in his life and instead tries to justify everything. He really sucks as how he was portrayed on the show last night. I just rather prefer to listen to his old jams and enjoy them the way they are. But him and Cherelle hyping up their current line up of dates performing live like its the best thing since apple pie had me dying laughing. I'm glad I caught it. I enjoyed it Damn Alex, that old lifestyle took a toll on you brother. Did he finally overcome his addictions? I don't remember them actually saying anything on his soberity, (Maybe I missed it as they came back from commercials, I'm a channel surfer during breaks). I'm glad that he has someone in his life that seems to geniunely love him for him.
I've never would have thought that Cherrelle was a Valley Girl Jam & Lewis were still able to bring out her natural sassiness and put some funk on it. I love their songwriting process.
I haven't caught all of the Unsung episodes, I wonder how theirs compare with the others? I know the DeBarge family episodes were quite in depth and detailed.
Prince might have thought that Alex wouldn't sell based on his looks but he really had a problem with Alex questioning the business side of things. That more than anything probably got him the boot. Prince probably thought that he was too much like him in that regard. I could see Prince thinking, "This big country ni**a is gonna be a problem."

As much as I cringed when Alex said that Prince is black when he wants to be black, I couldn't help but think of the interview he gave Tavis Smiley in 2009, when he talked about the State of the Black Union, Jack Johnson, Chemtrails, Dick Gregory and re-distribution of the wealth to the 'hood. I certainly believe Prince was sincere in those remarks about those comments, but when Alex put it in those terms, Alex certainly has a point. BTW, Pebbles is still FINE AS EVER! That reality show Chili from TLC has "What Chilli Wants" is totally miscasted, cuz I'll certainly do whatever Pebbles wants. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR |

Somebody's ass is lying, I don't know who.
The Time concept was developed long before Baby Alex came into the picture as a deal between Prince & Morris(in result of the "Partyup" blatant rip off).
Now I know that Alex auditioned to be a member of the band, but I don't know which part is true, the implication in DMSR that he didn't wanna settle with the measly payment or that he was too dark to be frontman.
That being said, Alex is correct in his assessment that Prince was conveniently "black" when it served his purpose, its nothing new. Back in the 80s he distanced himself from black media outlets and threw himself into the mainstream crowd, until the "Slave" fiasco happened thats when all of a sudden he embraced the black media. Even his drummer Michael Bland pointed this out. [Edited 6/21/11 9:31am] |

That's what I'm saying. The way it looks, he only conversed with Prince for a short time. His comment was either just made on the basis of jealousy, bitterness, or just from looking on the outside in. Either way, he still comes off as bitter where in as a result he achieved success. So why bother? It's clear Alex's story differs from what Jam and Lewis said. I know a few months back he was talking the same shit on the Tom Joyner morning show just to sell this new album he had out. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |

Alex has had major health issues from his drug & alcohol use including having a major stroke. If U listen to him talk his speech is slurred and he seems incoherent.
Cherrelle on the other hand is best friends with Whitney Houston. She lived with her in her condo in the ATL during the prime of her drug use, when she was still married to Bobby Brown. Too bad Unsung never mentioned those incidents. Then again this IS Unsung. I knew from the way he talked that he had a stroke related to his cocaine use. Bobby had a similar stroke but it was likely due to heroin and cocaine. |

Alexander Nevermind
TV wine and food critic Jilly Goolden (pictured) exchanges lives with Cynthia O'Neal, wife of 1980s US soul singer Alexander O'Neal (pictured). Jilly and Cynthia are about to swap lives to learn more about themselves, and each other.
Cynthia met Alexander when she auditioned as his backing singer 19 years ago. O'Neal hit super stardom in the 1980s with chart-topping hits Fake and Criticize. First discovered by Prince, he was the only performer to sell out six consecutive nights at Wembley arena. Today he performs to a smaller audience of loyal fans. Support now comes in the form of loyal wife Cynthia, an ex-choreographer who is dedicated to looking after the singer's every need. Alexander is the star of the relationship and prone to diva strops if things aren't done his way.
Jilly Goolden is one of the UK's best known food and wine critics. Renowned for her forthright opinions on TV, she's been voted one of Radio Times's most eccentric personalities of all time. She married Paul, a government manager, 23 years ago. Today they live a country-house existence, complete with farm animals, in a sleepy rustic part of Sussex. Life revolves around workaholic Jilly's busy schedule, and when her husband Paul isn't cooking up elaborate meals they occasionally let their hair down with a game of ping-pong or a post-dinner book review.
What happens when an soul superstar has to play house-husband? How does the American wife of a soul singer cope living with an English gent? And what happens when a demanding husband meets his match? Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman |

No he's a brother alright lol
I just think Alex is still pissed off Prince cut him off lol but I look at it like this, he did Alex a favor... he still did something Prince has never done - sold out Wembley Stadium so hey.
THAT is why Unsung needs new researchers
Alex sold out Wembley Arena which housed a bit over 10,000 people, whereas Wembley Staium housed (at the time) 72,000 "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world." |
