hmmm I wanna get excited about this, but I'm gonna take a 'wait and see' approach. When many Old School artists make 'new' albums, sometimes it can be really disappointing. They bring in rappers, trying to sound like everything else on the radio.Let's hope that Sly remains true to the funk.

How many release dates has Sly had over these 35 years? lol I'd say it will be a miracle if you ever add anything from him to your vast collection of music.

With no disrespect or disregard toward Sly's rich musical legacy and impact, this is how I feel about this "upcoming" album:

Being that the guy was a hermit for so long, I think it's cool that he is releasing a new album. Whatever it is.

Sly's been a screw-up for a long time. I still wonder if he has some undiagnosed mental problems... I don't even think it's drugs at this point. neutral

Gotta be SOME straight up drain blammage in the mix by now.

Chance of an actual release? 1%. Thank God too, for the sake of his legacy.

No it ain't. I don't see that greasy dung beetle's name or his peers anywhere in that tracklist. All I see is Bootsy, Jeff Beck, Ernie Watts, far from the collaborative effort that Uncle Q attempted to pass as "music" in the last atrocity he called an album.

Mind you, I'm not that keen on artists re-recording their music but hell, this is SLY, who have been been on a hiatus that was long as my age. All I'm saying is, lets give this a wait & see treatment before we jump ship.

You knew he had some new songs lol he had been working on that for a while. Guess he figured he make an easier buck having people cover his shit again this time with HIM abroad. shrug

Yeah lol I'm more interested in Plain Jane and Get Away to be honest.

And falloff @ Family Affair having a Dubstep Mix and Thank You having an electro mix. Interesting... I mean I don't mind any of the people he's working with on the covers (Bootsy, Johnny, Ann, etc.) but I knew he had a bunch of new songs and he hasn't put that out yet. neutral

Whatever the reasoning is, I welcome the effort. Maybe, just maybe, this will open the door for his "new" material to be released.
